Hey Guys,
I'm new to this site and I've only been drumming for 8 months or so. I'm curious if anyone knows much about Peace drums. I know that it really comes down to the individual person and what sounds good to them when choosing a kit but I was hoping someone had some more specific info about these kits.
The site: http://www.heartbeatpercussion.com/index.html
Additionally they make Istanbul and Alchemy Cymbals any info on these?

Peace used to be synonymous with "piece" (as in...well, you know). Now, it seems as if they're making decent kits. In fact, one member here swears by his bubinga bop Peace kit. I'm sure he'll reply soon. I don't have any personal experience with the newer Peace kits, but I'd like to check 'em out...

We have 2 drummers here endorsed by Peace (Masonni and Steamer), with Steamer also a Istanbul Agop man. The high end Peace kits are every bit as good as anyone else's high end kits. I've been watching this company grow for several years now, since I first spied them at the NAMM show. They offer high value and great quality. As far as the Turkish Cymbals, love 'em. I play a mix of Istanbul Mehmet, Soultone and Masterwork plates. If you're looking for a great "unique" sound, Peace and Agop will deliver. Welcome to Drummerworld.

Peace makes beginner kits right up to high end professional kits and everything in between. Their high end kits can compete with anything else on the market at present IMO. Speaking of which alot of what you see in stores funny enough is re-branded products which were made at the same state of the art Peace drum production facility in Taiwan.
Heartbeat Percussion is the Canadian distributor of Peace Drums and Istanbul Agop Cymbals. I'm a proud endorser of both products and the chap Noel running Heartbeat is a first rate guy.
My Peace Kahuna 9 ply AA flame bubinga Bee-Bopp kit as reference to one of their high end kits. I'll put them up against any other high end ply type drum on the market regarding sound, general quality and $$$ no question about it. Istanbul Agop with a few of mine also seen pictured with the Peace kit make my favorite handmade Turkish cymbals on the planet:

Their website, unfortunately has ZERO info on their drums. For example, if you wanted to order a Paragon Custom Pro Choice....where would you go to see your options for tom sizes, kicks, etc, ?? There isn't a place on the site, nor is there a downloadable PDF of their catalog???
Strange....
I'll add my 2c here:
I bought all my Agop cymbals from Noel at Heartbeat.........great guy and excellent cymbals. He also carries some superb Alchemy cymbals........the bell is sweet.
I was at the showroom two weeks ago and sat behind the display Bubinga (Peace Kahuna Series) kit. Wow! Incredible sound and easy on the eyes. I love my Gretsch Renown Purewoods, but I would not mind owning those Peace Drums. The Gloss finish in Newcastle with the inlay is a nice touch.

That flame bubinga finish does indeed make the natural tama omnitune bubinga look bland!
Peace hit a home run with that kit!

You can order Peace's Machined Tube Lugs as well - they're more money of course but they look spectacular.
Check the lugs out on their top-of-the-line Paragon drums. They're a standard feature on these drums:

I would order the lugs that were the smallest and showed the most shell possible.

The Tube lugs would be it then.................I've seen both close up and the beautifully machined tube lugs would be my choice - no contest. But - hey - personal preference enters into it.

Yeah, I have to agree about the website. While their drums might be perfectly nice and on par with other brands...the website is confusing and near useless. They need to take on a good revamping on the site if they want to compete more seriously with major brands in the US.

They need feedback like the above. You should send a message to them - it wouldn't hurt.

The company knows how bad the website is, they told me they are going to re-vamp it soon.
I love Peace. I worked in a small music store who sold the low end kits, and I was impressed with how good they were for the price they sold at.
Better than anything else in the same price range. So, I took a chance and ordered a pro level kit for myself.
About a year later I was officialy endorsing them and never looked back.
Here are a few photos of my drums:

Yes, those are Istabul's on my kits. I used to endorse them, but I switched to Zildjian last year.

The only thing that hurts Peace is limited distribution. The DNA maple and Kahuna bubinga look GREAT, but they aren't that widely available. I wish they were.

Canada seems to have much better distribution of Peace with the Canadian distributor Noel at Heartbeat Percussion. The warehouse is packed with all the high end Peace drums ready to move and the artist lounge in the showroom always has a few of the high end kits on display to play at any given time. As an official Peace endorser I love to visit and play several of the high end kits that get a rotation in the showroom during the year.
To my knowledge my Peace Kahuna 9 Ply AA flame bubinga kit in bop sizes hasn't even been shown or sold in the States yet so it would appear the Canadian distributor has done a good job of obtaining and selling some of their more specialized high end offerings for the general drum buying public and endorsers alike.
I'm sure glad because i'm still loving this 9 ply bubinga kit that just keeps sounding better over time. Just added recently a Peace phosphor bronze snare into the mix that's sure blowing me away.
Peace makes great drums it's just a matter of getting them out there for people to discover firsthand.

I have only been to the USA office once. The "show room" was about the size of my living room with two kits. They let me use one of them for a week of tour dates in the area before I had to give it back.
I see good things in the future for them though... :)
