Would you like a rack with that?!

Wow, really nice kit with some great cymbals man! Must be a blast!

few things that I'd like to note :)

1. Yes i know..i dont use rack for so much chrome gorest going on. Why? Firstly, I dont like rack, and secondly, I dont have enough space in my studio room. Apart of these reasons, I might get one in the future. not sure, though. :)

2. Yes, the kit is not very clean. I took the photos before its cleaned. Now all the tom heads are already replaced with Remo Ambassador Single ply. Havent decided what head for the kick though.

3. I dont change the snare heads since I dont really like the sound and rarely use it. So..yeah..its ugly...haha :)

Please enjoy my kit and I'd like to hear your comments! Thanks very much beforehand! :D

wow....that is one monster....nice!

and you said you dont have room for a rack? a rack would take up less space than all those stands..

@big philly: thanks, dude! yes..they are fun to play with :)
yes i do like portnoy and inspired by him...but more on the playing..I refer a lot more to Akira Jimbo and Dave Weckl as role models. I like the way Akira arrange his toms..also..plenty of splashes..i was inspired by Manu Katche..you can make sweet fill in accents with it.

Thanks. really appreciate it.

...all I can say is WoW !!!

Also, if you move those little cymbals out of the shade they might grow better.

Very nice kit. whenever I see a nice cohesive kit like that, it always makes me want to add a bunch of stuff to my four piece.

Sadly, whenever I play a big kit like that, it makes me want to play the accordian.

Once again, very nice kit.

awesome kit. just awesome. a rack would definitely be a lifesaver if you are playing in a small venue with a small stage. there are bars i have played that only has a stage the size of your kit so this would surely be agonizing to set up and/or move around.

aside from that i honestly think a kit that big and gorgeous, deserves respect and room to be fully set up.

my choice of favorite drummers also by the way. especially akira jimbo.

peace!

...if you don't like racks, don't get one.

Just my opinion, but the way you have everything set up makes your kit a work of art and inovation. It also looks very functional, so why change it to please others.

Your kit looks great as is.

Do you use all those snare drums, I've thought about getting a like 12 inch stage custom to match mine but i don't know if its worth the money to do it

boomcrashbang
06-24-2008, 03:42 AM
@baz: thanks for sharing your thoughts :) really appreciate it. I might just buy it and dont use it..or I can wait until I have my second kit. yea thanks man..i put tons of efforts on setting up everything to be very comfortable to play with as well as good looking :) thanks very much, dude!

@exportdrummer: yes,..i use them all, especially when I am playing ostinato. I apply some traditional groove on the left side of the kit...in this case the snares. I let all the strands opened and it creates typical traditional drum sound. While doing the traditional pattern on left limbs constantly..the right limbs throw independent chops or other mixed patterns..or vice versa. 12 snare you said?? you better get the 10" one. Why? the sound would be more distinctive from your main snare, in this case I assume you have the 14" one now. :) Thanks very much dude!

Thats one sick set up! I like the sound of the stage customs myself. I will agree with you about the 10" snare. I added a 12x5 snare and it sounded close to my 14x6 1/2 so i got a custom 14x5 maple snare to change the sound abit.

@class A drummer: thankssss..yess the cowbells are sickkk and they are very cheap tooo :) its a really great add on instruments. same thing with the jamblocks..wish I have one red and one blue..haha...i got the first red 2 years ago..then last year..someon bought me another one as a birthday present..haha :D Thanks!!

@SOGdrummer: jealous? Are you? :) hehe...yes thanks! I started my collection 7 years ago. My parents bought me the standard Stage Custom (5 pieces) with a set of ZBT cymbals... along the way up to recent, I have been constantly building my kit..and also snare drums collection! wait until I have the time to take their pictures :) luckily I have not married (i am 25 now)...so, I have always spend most of my salary and other incomes for drums..haha..its seriously ADDICTIVE!!

I'll post the pictures of the snares later on :) Thanksss, dude!

@swing set: thanks, man! really appreciate it. I have been this kit since 2001. its very good, nice sound, very affordable, and if you play fusion, latin genres..this kit is one of the best in the middle class, yet again..very very affordable. :) its one of the most favourite kits here in indonesia.

Wow, great set. I think you have like half the annual output of the Zildjian factory there! I like the percussion items as well. I like the esthetics of the set, how the cymbals start high on the left and flow down. You also have relatively few stands given the enormous amount of stuff you have. I am the same way, I like having fewer stands and putting as much on them as I can, so the set isn't lost behind a forest of stands. Obviously a lot of thought and care has gone into this set.

You house looks interesting as well. Where do you live?

You have to build a massive flightcase for your whole set and put that on a truck, you get your case off the truck on your gig location, put the cymbals on it and play :-)

Haha, my imagination gave me some really interesting images in my head now :-P
But how would you get your flightcase in at indoor gigs? Drop it trough the roof? I think that would damage the drums a bit... and the roof... and the floor... and maybe some people too, if they were unlucky enough to be underneath it when it dropped :-)

eehm ;-) you should play only in a tent. You put your truck on the place where the tent has to be placed, then you build the tent over the truck and you have your stage.

It's not realistic, but it's fun :-)

Why are you bumping your own thread of pictures of your own kit? So more people say woooo! I guess! Crazy kit man, and I'm assuming from the double pedal that you might sometimes play some heavy beats- ever thought about investing in a 2nd bass drum instead of more cymbals? It would really open the kit up and not make it look so clustered.

Crazy kit though man, must be fun to play!

Some heavy solos to be precise :) i am not a big fan of rock or metal drumming..instead, I am more into Fusion, Latin, jazz beats :D and I dont like 2nd bass drum..as I also feel I dont need to have one..hehe.. but, maybe a rack would be nice :) I just added one more 10 inch tom for this set..
