Well OK.. the brass isn't completely done but I'll have the missing pieces by next week and then it's out the door to its new owner. Beautiful drum though so I'm going to miss it.

Simple 10 ply maple... water based (go green!) high gloss finish and single flange hoops.

Carbon Fiber / Wood "hybrid" snare. (The wood is built into the shell but the shell is only a few mm thick)

The beautiful brass snare that I'm finally finishing next week.

Oh and this is my last Signature Magnesium shell that I'll have for a while. It's going to a guy up in Canada that already bought one but wanted another size. Hard to get a good photo of it but it's got a gorgeous satin black finish.

Guess I've been busy!

Just a few more shells to clear out before I move and then I'll have less to pack when we move into the new house. :D

Thanks buddy! Yea... I wish I could keep that one, she's gorgeous. One of the best metal shells I've put out there yet. How's that maple drum treating ya?

Always good work CH, that brass snare is stunning!

I think by the end of the summer, you should make a thread showing all the drums you have worked on, that will sure draw a crowd.

They all look very nice. I'll bet that magnesium shell looks very nice in person.

Haha thanks guys! =) One of these days I'll build a few nice ones to keep. So far the original Maggy is the only one I've kept.

Is a solid shell used for that brass snare drum? How thick is it??

Great great work!

Hey Karl! Thanks man... That's a rolled and welded shell but you can't see the seam at all. That's one issue with my shells that I've pretty much ironed out. =) Can't have them looking all crappy even if they've always sounded great.

Very nice snares. I'm a big fan of the brass shells. Let me know if you get your hands on a steel or bronze shell that's 3mm.

Hateplow: I've got a carbon steel shell here right now... it's already drilled and ready to go.

Grunter: PM me your address and I will send you a badge.

I had one last Vaughncraft shell laying around that I'd been rather frustrated with. I'd finished it with a tung oil product and while buffing it wasn't paying attention and burned right through the finish since it hadn't cured enough. So basically it sat in the storage room for that past few months because I didn't want to mess with sanding it back down. However, we're moving in 2 weeks and someone fairly local showed some interest so I finally got around to finishing it:

I took the single flange hooops off the maple snare since it didn't sell with them... I'll throw regular 2.3mm hoops on that one.
