hi would like to know if someone can explain to me the technique of Budby Rich when he plays the hi-hat his left hand is on the bottom-cymbal and he still do doubles strokes...
how does he do that?
there is a video in you tube that u can see it better...

Amazing solo. I'm clueless with probably 90% of these 3 minutes and 43 seconds. Stunning control.

Start off by looking at this as a basic triplet. Play the first two notes of the triplet on the top of the hi hat with your right hand then play the third note with the stick under the hi hat with you left. Rest the thumb of your left hand on the top of the hi hat in order to hold the stick under the hi hat with your fingers. Use your fingers to tap the stick from underneath.

After you get that down and up to speed, start experimenting with doubles, paradiddles etc...
