hey, if you could recommend me some songs/albums with drummers like dave weckl or steve smith which have some cool funk/fusion grooves with double bass that i can transcribe and learn *breath* it'd be great.

One of my favs is a really cool fusion tune by Simon Philips callled "Outback" where he does a DB shuffle at a pretty intense tempo following Anthony Jackson's bass line...

Also most of Weckl's DB is one-left two-right shuffles and quick fills....
If you want something crazy hot then check out "Cultural Concurrence" from the Synergy CD...

"Vital Techtones--VTT2" for Smith

"Perpetual Motion" for Weckl

Also, the "Burnin' for Buddy" album (vol. 1) features Weckl, Smith, Simon Phillips and Matt Sorum (yeah, Matt Sorum) throwing down some double bass with the big band.
