My God, my cousin (10) browsing the forum clicked on that topic and saw that filth. I can't let him get on here anymore now until I'm sure this can't happen. Plus, I am sure there are other younger then 13 year old kids that browse this site.

the porn spammers are too frequent, registration needs to be updated so it is harder for them to get in.

I totally agree with all the previous post by other members and the serious nature of the problem. The site seems to be "under attack" from this porn crap in the last many days. I've fired off PM"s to the people in charge the moment they show up if i'm logged on and spot it but things take time to take down and since this a public forum visited by anyone "at any age" this continued garbage and links to more garbage is a BIG problem in my view for those viewing the threads until they get removed.

I'm sure the powers in charge are working on the issue as we speak

I've been reporting these posts every time I see them, but I think it's difficult for mods to deal with as these bots usually exploit vulnerabilities in the forum software. Hopefully there will be a patch to fix it if that is indeed the case.

With the big forum update to Version 3.7.1 last week, the verification system was turned off.

Now i turned it on again, hope it helps - but explains also, why we had spammers these last days. Hopefully it works...

Indeed. We are making it harder for spam bots to register, but that also means that it's going to be harder for real people to register. Forums can be set up so that a question has to be answered ("What do you put in a car to make it go?"), but people in different countries may answer differently (gas, petrol, etc.), plus visually impaired people may not be able to read the question. It can also be set up so that a string of characters is displayed that must be typed in by the new user, but there are problems with this method as well. And sad as it is to contemplate, there are actually real human beings who sign up on forum after forum just to post links and images that are clearly inappropriate.

Have you noticed that each post has a little image of a triangle for reporting posts to the Admins? Of all the people who saw the post mentioned here, only two people reported it using this method. If you start a new thread (like this one) saying not to view a certain thread, I have to read every thread before I stumble across your warning. If you report a thread using the method that we have provided, we get notice either the moment we sign on to the site or instantly if we are already here. And please don't wait until you see that an Admin is signed on here. If one is in Invisible mode then you'll never even know he's here.

As long as you are viewing Internet sites that allow user input, you are in danger of seeing things that you'd rather not see. Surf with caution, especially when youngsters are with you, and we will continue to monitor things as closely as we can and keep DrummerWorld safe for everyone.

OK, cool. I didn't know about the triangle warning button at the top of each post. Hopefully now Berhards turned the verification back on things will improve.

Spam happens. I manage all the IT systems for my company, and we do everything possible to keep it to a minimum and we are 99.99 percent "spam free". And, we pay a full IT staff to manage this and have special spam hardware/software. I do not know what Bernards "IT budget" is, but I have to believe it is limited.

There is always a risk of spam on the internet, and if you let your kids surf it, even when you are present, there is no guarantee that they will not be exposed to something. So, if your kids are exposed to something, at the end of the day, it is YOUR fault, not someone elses.

This is probably one of the most spam free sites I have ever visited.

I do not let my daughters surf the web for obvious reasons. And, if they want to visit a website, I make sure that it is disney.com or others that I know have a HUGE IT budget to insure they are not exposed to pornography. I also keep my spam filters updated on my local computer, as it is our responsibility as well.

Your points are well taken but in this latest in a series of spam porn "attacks" we've seen over the last several days the original poster of the latest thread purposely titled the thread in regards to a very popular game with younger people purposely targeting them to check it out but finding something completely "inappropriate" in return.

You can only do so much agreed but these bottom feeders are very clever in their approach at reaching out to spew their filth on viewers and in this case those who are at most at risk of viewing it and it's unexceptable content.

Bernhard has explained the reason for the "problem" so we may have seen the end of it for now.

If a set number of respected members(100+ posts, in good standing, no violations) report a post (lets say 4), that post gets deleted and an administrator gets notified. I know the mods aren't always on, so this way people can delete the spam themselves.

As Iron Cobra said- I completely agree. As soon as I see a spam ad, I hit that little red triangle with the "!" but does this work? I like to think it does,and I do, but wouldnt some sort of "automatic" removal by the general concensus make it all the better?

i agree! but maybe make it like 500 posts...cuz 100 goes by pretty fast. but very good idea.

Is there any mod out there that could shed some light on whether this is possible or not? I would LOVE to see it happen. The amount of spam (and work from the moderators) would be greatly reduced.
