808 sounds through a laptop or an spds?

Hey guys, i've been stalling for the last couple of month to buy an spds or not. I wanna run some bass heavy 808 sounds for a couple of songs live, and a backing track. What would be the best way to do this?

I have a laptop and that is all. And I'm retarded when it comes to computers and electronics lol

Any help would be awesome.

Do you want to trigger them, or just play them back as part of a sequence?

I wanna trigger them, but we will also be running a backing track, in a few songs, through an ipod or laptop, im not sure. I wanna take the least amount of gear to shows as possible when it comes to electronics - a pad and a laptop maybe?

i have an spds and i found that playing many other sounds while another is playing (ie. fast double bass while there is a backing track) will cut off the backing track.
