I recently returned from a week long intensive West-African Dance and Drum camp and learned of a really great new reference tool for those of you who may have trouble recalling the rhythms that you have learned. It is called the Rhythm Reference Guide and can be purchased online. It is a group of 50 of the most commonly played rhythms for djembe and was put together by master drummer Fara Tolno. It is awesome! it has the breaks and all of the accompinament parts as well. He even has alternate breaks and accompinament by Mamady Keita, Thion Diop, and others. For the price, this is an incredibly great value. I got mine for $39, and the money from this project goes to funding a school in Guinea specifically for the purpose of fostering growth of master drummers within the country itself. It is a really great project. Here is the link

Be warned! This is a reference tool, not a teaching tool. You should have the basics of djembe firmly developed before using this product. Further volumes are being developed as we speak with solo technique and dun-dun parts as well.
