For the past few weeks I've been using a coated G1 over a Hazy 300 on my snare and while it doesn't sound too bad (not that great either)....I really don't like the "feel" the G1 has. I've tuned it a few times now and have played it every day for at least 2 hrs...I just can't get used to it. It feels "fat" and heavy for a coated single ply. Normally I'd use a coated ambassador over an ambassador snare....and I love the sound AND feel. The head is thin but durable...and has a lot more give.

Since I've got Evans all around and I'm one of those weird guys that would rather not have "mis-matching" head brands (don't ask why, I'm not entirely sure myself) - is there another head on the Evans side that might be better for a snare batter? I've tried a Genera Dry - won't ever make that mistake again...so anything other than that?

Thanks!

They now have the EC series for the snare drum. I never played them but it may be worth looking at?

Nah, I'm looking for more of a wide-open sound...I like some ring and I've used EC heads on toms in the past....didn't care for them at all.

I've used a lot of the Power Center Reverse Dots and they are a pretty open head. They ring enough to cut through. I generally use a G1 on my 13s. Similar to an Ambassador.

I've been using the exact same setup on all my 14's as you for the past couple of years.

It's my favorite combo ever, probably won't go anywhere else.

Perfect feel for me- warm and open.

What kind of drum are you slapping these on?
