the first snare my dad bought for me was a cheap metal sunlite snare that came with a bag and a stand and a pair of sticks.

it was a decent snare to start off with...
but i could never get it to sound decent.

so i took all the hardware off
i mean everything

and its not a very well built drum.

so my question is should i try and make it sound decent ?
i mean new snare wires new heads the works...

or should i go for a different approach.

i was thinking about just putting on a batter head and using it as sort of a timbale kind of drum...

any suggestions would be appreciated.

i mean i dont want to just throw it away.

btw the size is 14X5 i believe.

thank you in advance.

For the sake of nostalgia, hold onto the shell. Maybe re-assemble it. And park it. Make it a wall hanger, or put it on a snare stand and use it as an end table/T.V. dinner tray.

Snares and heads will always help, but the problem is the shell itself not being true... and I suppose the material it's made out of.

It's better to just save the money and spend it towards a better drum.\
