So I was talking with my drum teacher the other day about how rediculous drumkits got in the 80s, and he mentioned vaguely remembering a triple bass drum ludwig set from one of their 80s catalogs. I told him I'd try and print a picture out of it, but I can't find pictures of it anywhere online. Does such a set exist? (I think he said the set was called "No limits" or something like that.)

thanks in advance for any info!

I'm sure it did exist, in a catalog. Remember, catalogs exist as "eye candy", and to show potential buyers all the options/flexibility their products have to offer. How ' bout Keith Moon, 1967.

That's true. I wonder if anyone actually bought one... that would be quite the load for UPS! Maybe if Keith had lived into the 80s...

drumhedd, you were very close on the name, it was actually called the "Modular No Limit"
Shown below in the 1984 Catalog............

If you would have ordered the whole stock Outfit here's the Snare you would have received.
Also from the 1984 Catalog........

The Keith Moon

The drummer should play at least like Keith Moon (not just steady bass snare type) just to make use of all the tom toms, otherwise this would be just an eye candy. I mean he should make the audience aware that It is the drums that is leading the songs not the guitars!

...Drums don't really lead songs...

Actually, a store had this kit when I was 14 or 15 and we would go by just to look at it! It was so big that it was the only thing in the room! I don't know what happened to it or who bought it, but it was just a small music store in Bethany,Oklahoma.

I do like the fact that the 3 kick drums are different sizes. Hinting that you're actually supposed to play them, rather than just move your feet really, really fast. And the slotted Coliseum snare. Didn't sell so well back in 1984. It's time had not yet come. Probably selling better for OCDP in the new millennium. Thanks LVDC, for pulling out one of your catalogs and sharing the eye candy.
