Hey guys,
I know this is purely on looks but which do you prefer out of the two pictures? Doing up my kit all over and not sure which looks better. Also thinking about using T tension rods such as these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160100391930&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching).
Thanks,

Option 1 or vintage look?

Option 1 butterfly is the very traditional and featured in hugely overprized Gretsch bebop drums but also the ultimate cheapo claw in Sonor beginner drums. If you play jazz the looks might be OK. Option 2 probably is lost behind the T tension rods. Both are pretty boring. Cool choice would be CoolClaw http://www.mikedolbear.co.uk/images/NAMM2007_photos/ahead_01.htm
This post made me a senior drummer. I have to retire now:)
Yes, option1 is very traditional and that's why i do like it. For the "coolclaw", personally don't think its that cool per say, wouldn't have it on my kit but could look good.

I like the butterflies. As a matter of fact, I got a baggie of 20 in the basement right now for my new kit. I like the old-school kind of look.

If you want a vintage look go with number 1, I tend to like to see more of the drum or hoop so I like # 2. My Gretsch Renowns have the #2 look.

Think I've come to a decision. Going to stay with the modern look partly cause the vintage doesn't really fit the rest of my kit and don't fit the hoops that well aka leave marks/damage the edge.

I like 2 better, as it is cleaner.
I do think the cool claws are pimp. In a few years, someone will get the stroke of genius to create all kinds of funky bass drum claws. I would love to see a selection of them.
