snares ringing???

every time i play my bass drums the snares of my snare drum ring. why is this?? and how can i fix it??

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

It’s called sympathetic ring. To some degree it inherent and will always be there. I have read of way to reduce it but don’t know enough about it to talk about it here.

I think it comes from your snare being the same pitch as another drum, causing it to vibrate. If you tune your snare slightly lower or higher, it should go away.

I've never been able to get rid of it with my supraphonic. I just live with it. Can't notice it when the band is playing. Don't notice it when it's loudish. And actually, when I don't hear it now (say my snares are off) I miss it. I'm used to all the sympathetic sounds of my kit. Like, my bass drum doesn't sound right when the other drums aren't around. But when the toms and snare are set up my bass drum sounds right again!
