I'm looking to do a custom kit and would be delighted to hear any recommendations for blank shells. Price isn't so important but sound, obviously, is. Any local companies or anything at all for that matter.

Keller shells, which they drill and edge for you if you buy the hardware from them too. Great quality work. I purchased 14x7 snare with diecasts, a genericish strainer and tube lugs (all gold hardware) for about $295. The edging is flawless and it is really a great drum. Sounds as good as any high end Sonor or anything else I've had.
