I've been in the market for a new kit. The wife gave me the go ahead once the truck is paid off which is in a couple of months. I looking at a custom home built kit, the ddrum dominion AMX which i can get with a 24" bass, or the Gretsch renowns. Any way i look at it they will have to be custom ordered cause i want a 24" bass drum. I'm keeping my Yamaha's cause they sound so good. What would you do?

Have you checked out the renown in autumn burst? Once you see that, you'll forget Ddrum. This video is the only decent sized image I can find of it.

Can you even get a custom ordered renown?

Yeah i have seen all the colors for the renowns but i think my fav is the blueburst. As far as special order i would have to check. I know extra drums can be ordered but i would hate to have to buy a kit then have to order a 24" kick later.

I play Ddrum and can definately say, forget all the negative you might have heard about this company in the past. IMO, great quality for the price. I play the Dominion AMX and the sound is awesome. I have found nothing to complain about with the quality of this kit either.

I'd check out gently "used" kits. Like this one here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=170252103021 Got your 24" kick. 3 rack, 1 floor. And still in the Yamaha family. Man can never own enough Yamaha's. I'd say, if the purchase is still months away, never narrow down your options.
