What is the difference between these two kits? Is it just the lugs?
Thanks.
I found a 5 piece MCA new for 1795 USD and I am thinking about jumping on it.
Thanks for your input.

It should be just the lugs. The earlier (pre-2004) Absolute Maple kits had flanged hoops and glued-on badges. The current Absolute Maple kits have aluminum die-cast hoops and badges that are screwed in to the shell.
I believe the only difference with nouveau is the lug design. The nouveaus also have die-cast hoops and screwed-on badges.

The N is the Nouveau quick release lug, and that is the only difference between the two. Both have die cast hoops and are thinner shelled than the 7 ply Maple Custom kit. $1800 is a decent price for this kit, IMO.

The Maple Custom has 10mm, 10 ply kick and 7mm, 7 ply toms. The Absolute Maple and Absolute Maple Nouveau have 7mm, 7 ply kick and 6mm, 6 ply toms. Yamaha site info here: http://www.yamaha.com/drums/drumproductdetail.html?CNTID=546748

And the older MC has no Yess and Power Hoops (die cast hoops in the shape of flangeds)
