Die cast hoops will affect the sound in which toms will sound 'fuller'...that's the only word I can think of right now to describe it...i'm drunk

I would get S-Hoops, protect the bearing edges and they're stronger than die cast. Coat the stock-stamped hoops with mineral oil and stash'em, replace if/when you dump the Tours.
You'll always have the S-Hoops, a great investment and a great way to protect an investment.

Les, is S-hoop still in business? I know their founder, whose name I forget, died suddenly last year. I've been thinking about getting some for my kit but the web site is gone. Any info? Thanks.

www.drummaker.com sells them...to retro-fit my kit it would be about $133.
