Im seriosly thinking about purchasing a tama artwood snare drum, and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with the product? And which sizes i should go with? I was thinking of the 13x6.5 but im not sure, any advice?

My dad bought me one for my birthday once and they forgot to cut the snare beds! How could you forget to do such a thing. It was black sparkle with black hardware. It was so beautiful. As it turns out tama could do nothing to fix it since they had discontinued the product but we got our money back.

I bought a newer model, 6.5x14, black nickel hardware. It's got a great maple crack and tuned up real easy. I use it as my main live snare, haven't had any issues with it whatsoever.

I would go for the Pearl Free Floating, which you originally inquired about, over the Tama Artwood. I think the Pearl FF is a better drum, and, if you use interstatemusic.com, it won't really cost that much more. You can get 3.5x14 and 5x14 FF snares for under $300, while the 6.5x14 FFs go for $319 there. I think that's the cheapest I've seen.
Snares usually function as the main piece of a kit, and as such may or usually require more attention and care--that is, it is worth it to pay a bit extra to get the quality and sound you are really after.

Dude, I would think this to be a collectors item (like a mis-struck coin), especially if you had Tama admitting they blew it. The obstacle being finding a buyer/collector. Some players request no sanre beds.

yeah but it Sounded awful! No matter what you did, it just sounded real bad as if every snare wire was bent out of shape. We tried new heads (top and bottom) new snares of various strands and..... nothing.
