So the other day I decided to mark my cymbal stands with permanent marker because most of them don't have memory locks. But, yesterday, I wanted to move things around a bit and now I'm even more satisfied with their location. Now I have to remark everything, but I odn't want marker covered all over my stands, and I don't want to always have 70 lines to chose from when I set up. Have any of you had this problem. Is it possible to fix? What other solutions are available. Keep in mind that I don't have my driver's license and can't go to WalMart or anything. The supplies have to be in my house.

Put the pen away. Everytime you set up, your body will probably want it to be different, even if only slightly. Don't fight your body, don't let your mind try and force the issue. The body changes overnight, mind needs to get out of the way and take instructions from body, not impose rigid limitations. Listen to body when setting up, not mind.

Or you could just color the whole stand black with marker and then get some white out and really really make sure that this is the line that is best... Or repeat in reverse until the optimal comfort level is achieved.

Acetone. You may or may not have it in the house, depending on if anyone in the family does any wood finishing and such. It'll remove permanent markers like sharpies and such very well, even paint markers.

If you do use acetone, rinse the paper towels use use out in the sink with water a whole lot before you dispose of them. Its rather flammable.

Ditto. Nail Polish Remover. Not oily and greasy like WD40. Works perfect.

My vote is for rubbing alcohol also. Paper towel and it will evaporate quickly and leave no mess.
