I'm building a practice setup for my double bass drum pedal with a pad as well as a snare drum pad. But moving my bass pedal back in forth off my set is starting to damage my original hoops!

I'd rather damage a different hoop and keep the original that came with my set in better condition so I've been looking for some replacement hoops. I found these (http://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2277&currency=USD). Will my bass drum sound that much different with a metal hoop then a wooden hoop?

I know where to get them. Actually, my question is, "Will my bass drum sound that much different with a metal hoop then a wooden hoop?"

My 20x14 had metal hoops, and I changed them to wooden ones. The pitch went down (woo hoo) and more round, less pingy. So I guess the opposite might happen going from wood to steel.
