Hi everyone i' m new so good to join you! I' d like some opinions about a good kit so i can start playing with my band mates without paying all those money in studios(Greece u know...). We' ve found just yesterday a small room-like place to rent so we need to place some instruments. We are all at university so the budget is low... I was thinking something like that http://musicstore.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/MusicStore-MusicStoreShop-Site/en_EN/-/EUR/ViewProductDetail-Start;pgid=?SKU=DRU0013660-000&ProductUUID=0&JumpTo=OfferList
for a start. I don't need the 2nd tom (9") and i prefer the drums to be sonor and i want their size to be like those of the link because i think the sound will be more solid with smaller parts in a small closed room. Keep in mind that with the guys i' m playing "rock", some jazz and more heavy stuff. Give also opinions about the cymbals(ride, crash, hi-hat, china) and hardware. The money i can afford for the drum parts is around 1.000 euros (around 800 dollars). If it helps you i like very much the sound of chris pennie (dillinger escape plan) especially in calculating the infinity record(ok i'm asking for a lot!!!).Thanks for your time!

If you have a music/drum shop local, I would start there. Shipping from US sources to Greece could be expensive. Then again, you are not nearly as far away from Turkey as we are. So for cymbals, you may want to check out Istanbul (Mehmet and Agop), Bosphorus, Turkish, Masterwork, Soultone, etc. I'm under the impression Meinl sells bigger in Europe, than here, so you might want to look at those also. Then, our very own Shane Fowlkes, of Just Drums http://www.justdrumsonline.com/ might just be the one and only person you'll need to talk to, or e-mail. So check him and his store out. Welcome to Drummerworld.

The 2007 series Sonor would definitely suit your needs. Pair it up with a set of Sabian XS20's and youve got yourself a very respectable kit at a great price.

Look also into the Mapex M, which also offers great value at a similar price.

Both kits are birch.

Good Advice. Just what I was going to say, so I'll second this.

I have XS20's and I love them! Mine are paired with a Sonor 1007.

Thnx very much but which 2007 kit do you suggest me to buy cause there is the stage 1,2, 3 the studio etc. And about the xs20 sabian cymbals, the performance or the rock set?

If you are a hard hitter, requiring loud volume environments, Id possibly look at the Rock Set, but generally speaking, the Performance set should be fine for what you need.

The setup configuration is upto you. Larger drums will be marginalkly louder, but smaller drums are somewhat easier to tune and control and have the added bonus of being far more portable than large drums.

Personally, Id go a 10/12/16/22 Configuration as Id gives you the best of both world. Then, add the XS20 performance set to it and a set of new drumheads.

Hey man, I'm greek too, welcome to the forum.

That's a nice choice, go for the force 2007 i would go fot the 10/12/16 and 22 too because you can play some jazz but you could also play metal and rock. Also If I were you I would try to buy used high end cymbals or give a try at Saluda (www.saludacymbals.com).

Oh by the way 1.000 euros are nearly 1.500 US dollars, maybe more.
