I've been thinking. I see different people's sticks and have noticed that there is generally a consistent way they break/wear out. For example, many people just break (more like, chip to excess) the heads of the sticks and have to throw them away because then they lose rebound and sound on drums and cymbals. Others chew up their sticks so that they lose a lot of their girth and eventually snap. Others keep breaking their sticks with one crack diagonally; generally from next to the head, to about the middle of the stick.
I, for example, belong to the first and last groups. Does this say anything about my technique, or rather, the flaws in my technique? Is there a deducible COD ("cause of death") in broken sticks?
