Problem, kinda, i am in the market for a new 14" snare drum head that will:
really bring a warm sound to the drum
bring out the tonal value of the wood
not really wanting a crack (tried genre dry by EVANS didn't like)
need something durable.
I own the tama valkryie snare drum, (some serious maple)
I was suggested to try an coated emperor to kinda of see if want somthing darker or brighter depending...any sugesttions?
THANKS!

I'm a big fan of the Aquarian Focus-X with Power Dot. It's an amazing sound, full and articulate, and it also gets rid of unwanted ring. Or you can get the non-dotted one if you like a more open sound.

You may also try one of the (coated) Aquarian Studio-X heads. Not quite as dry as the Focus-X. These are single ply heads so if you want to try a 2-ply, the Super-2's are like Emperors but I like them better.

These Aquarians aren't as easy to find as Remo Emperors but worth it.
