Hi Guys

Haven't been on the forum for a while ...been rehearsing!!

For those interested I finally got some pics of my kit. She's a lovely sounding kit, very loud and full. I keep changing my set up at the moment, experimenting with positioning, but this seems quite comfortable for now!
Sizes are 22, 12, 14, 16. 14 snare and a 10 snare which I currently use a tom. Paiste Alpha and PST5's cymbals mix.

I also convert it into a mini kit for those tight pub gigs. 14 or 16 bass drum, 10 snare and cymbals.

Sweet kit! That's a great-looking finish. The alphas are good cymbals in their own right. Love the mini-kit, too.

Thanks for the responses guys. Don't see many people with Cabrias but they sound the nuts with the right heads. The Evans G2's do a good job on the toms.

Re: The Paistes. I only use Alphas for the 'meat and veg' of the kit i.e. Hat and Ride, the rest are PST5's (due to budget constraints) which are amazing cymbals for the price, really bright, great tone, clean and they cut through!

Very nice.
Is that the newer series Cabria?
I see that the new XPK is getting rave reviews, with it being full maple.
I used to have an older Cabria, and it was a great sounding kit for live playing.
Nice stuff

Hi Wooltonboy

It's not any kind of PK ...I don't think. It looks like an XPK but I think it's a Cabria Rock Edition or something like that. There is no XPK or PK on the badge. I'm ordering new matching 8" and 10" toms for it too ...can't wait! I'll update when they are added.

Thanks for the reply.

How do you tune your bass to get the best out of it? I have a Cabria exclusive fusion kit.
I have a Powerstroke 3 batter on the kick but feel that the sound lacks the crack I would like to get out of it.

Here's a link to my kit.

Lots of changes to the heads since then and an Iron Cobra bass pedal too.

Hello Davidb59

I usually have the batter head quite tight which can sound quite wierd if the front head isn't on. I have the front/logo head quite loose. The tight batter gives me a good attack (and response) and the front head works on the tone and depth. I also have a pillow or a small fleece blanket in the drum to soak up any unwanted over tones. I still have the Premier head on there, it will need changing eventually but it's good for now. This does tend to work for me but it obviously does depend on the venue or rehearsal room, then I have to tinker more.

Hope this helps a bit

Nice kit by the way. Love the colour!

Nice kit! I run a similar set up using the same sizes, which I really like. I couldn't enlarge your photos, is your 12" mounted to the bass? It looked like your 10" was suspended from a cymbal stand. What kind of music are you playing?

Hi
Yeah, for the moment the 12 is mounted on the bass drum and 10 on stand. I will be ordering a 10 and 8 tom soon. So I'll have 3 tom mounted infront. The 10 snare will be added to the left side by hi hat. I play in a rock band, bit proggy.
