As Discography Project Manager of JEFF PORCARO'S hideous list of credits (702 of 'em, to be exact), at Toto Network---I am privileged and blessed to be part of a global gated community of musicians and music lovers from all walks of life.

This summer marks TOTO's 30's anniversary of being a band---of playing to sell-out crowds in Europe and Asia, and in that, the fanbase got together and compiled 2000 emails as "thank you" to the band Jeffrey co-founded. (http://www.totonetwork.com)

OUT OF THOSE 2000 EMAILS, a SONG WAS WRITTEN, (http://www.ivtoto.com/web/lyrics.html) simply titled:

"IV TOTO" (i.e. "Four TOTO", the play on album title should be obvious!).
Musicians from Italy invited Bobby Kimball to sing background vocals on the tune.
He was the ONLY MEMBER OF THE BAND to know about this project until YESTERDAY, when it was unveilled via the Toto Network (owned, and operated by one of Jeff's friends, Scott Page).

We here at Drummerworld all play drums for different reasons.
For me, it is an investment in my music and my health due to hypo-thyroid issues I found out about last year that will remain with me forever.
But in that attempt, there's a WHOLE LOT of respect and love for what Jeffrey meant to me as a fellow drummer and musician.

THAT is why I've put this announcement in the "General" forum here.
It will also be cross-posted to the forum for stuff related to Porcaro.

Please go to the website above and listen to the tune that is a product of INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION.

I'm working radio in my local area (Hattiesburg, MS) to see if I can't get this tune some airtime.

Will you guys talk this up???

ps; the binder of 2000 emails will be presented by GGM Studios (Italia) to TOTO in Japan during their reunion with Boz. How cool is THAT?

I wish Jeff was around physically to add his artistic touch and "art director" vibe to this whole thing. And I wonder what his initial reaction to it would be? Would he have ever considered that people from all over the world would write a song about the music he helped create??????

I'm told he was a very humble man.
Makes me wonder.

Cristano ....don't remember his last name. It should be on the website. Look in "Studio Diary".

And yeah---shades of Vinnie indeed. But somehow, I think Jeff would dig it and Si as well.
Simon and crew were handed INDIVIDUAL BOXED COPIES of that yesterday in Japan by the guys who headed it up.

Mike Porcaro isn't on the road (hand/arm issues....he's trying to recover from them).

SOMEBODY needs to get a copy of this to Jeff's kids but that isn't up to me.
I just am trying to get the tune heard.
CD Baby has the record. I just ordered mine today.
Check it out. There's the instrumental basic track and then the one with vox.
It's a great thing.

Lead vocal by Giorgio Oronato. Pretty sweet tune.
The CHIC WHO LAID DOWN AUXILLIARY PERCUSSION -her last name is Bonzi I think or maybe Borzi...Emanuela. She kills me. These were all Italian musicians who VOLUNTEERED their time.
Not for profit but any $$$ goes to pay the studio owner for 2" tape or ADATS or whatever.
I think it was an analogue session.

YEOUCH.
THAT is old-school.
