Guys,
I've realized that, after fumbling numerous rolls on the kit, my left-hand grip isn't as solid as my right.
That said, I've decided to practice free-stroke hits with my left hand on the pad at slow tempos (100 - 120BPM quarter notes) to strengthen my grip.
Now the question - How long should I be doing this for? 10 minutes? 15? 20?
Cheers
- Adam

As long as you can go without it hurting. If that turns out to be less than 5 minutes, your grip is not good.

by strengthen your grip, do you mean making the muscles in your hand stronger so you can tighten your grip? cause if so you should not be doing this at all. If you mean strengthening your fingers and hand muscles so that you have more control then do it for as long as your hands can stand it.

Whatever stops my hand sliding up the stick.

It's not a matter of it hurting - I want for my hand not to keep sliding up the stick after each hit.

The stick might slide up for a lot of reasons. The most general advice, kind of a psychological one, would be to try to identify a balanced feel of the stick in your hand, between the fingers and the hand. Look into the position of your fingers on the stick, it's most probably having something to do with that.

And also, if the stick doesn't slide when you play very slow notes, try to see what changes occur at the point where it starts sliding.
Hope this will be of some use to you!
