hey all,

well i havn't played drums "seriously" for about 1 year now. i had lost my motivation to play drums cause things weren't going anywhere and my "old" practice schedule was all over the place. i recently found my motivation to play again, and thought out this "practice" schedule. Any suggestions, comments would be great to hear from you guy's!

time: Depends on how busy i am with school/work. However, im aiming for an average of around 1 hour a day. After 1 minute of each exercise i increase the tempo until im at my maximum speed (while remaining comfortable)

Singles - 10 Minutes
Double - 7 Minutes
Paradiddles - 7 Minutes
Feet:
Singles - 10 Minutes
Doubles - 7 Minutes
Paradiddles - 7 Minutes
Other:
Blast Beat - Single Foot - 7 Minutes
Both Feet (alternating) - 7 Minutes

Then if i got some extra time, ill work on learning songs (some from my band, since we plan on getting back together, and some songs that i like).

would following this routine be benefial to my playing, and be one of the best ways to maximize my time? Once i have more time (during the summer and after) ill work more and more out of stick control.

Thanks in advance!

where's your time to be creative? That's the main, and most productive part of my practice. Through in 20 minutes of just drumming man, you'll find that that may be the most productive time you spend drumming. Make sure that it's at the end of your routine though, otherwise you may end up spending the entire time you alotted to practicing just jammin. ha

oh definetely, i didn't really think about writting that down. i jam to my own ideas all the time, i just forgot to include that in the jamming to songs section at the end.

cool. the only thing i would do differently, is to change this section at the beggining:

Singles - 10 Minutes
Double - 7 Minutes
Paradiddles - 7 Minutes

To just playing the first page of stick control. Start at a comfortable tempo, and increase daily.
