Taking notes would also be a good idea, if it is something you are good at, otherwise just listen. Come prepared to ask a question, even if you think its dumb. Do your homework, get the video, Secret Techniques for the Modern Drummer, if you don't have it, and come up with a question. Listen to Nerve. Get the most out of the clinic

Don't do this. Some kid at a Gadd clinic asked Steve if he ever used paradiddles around the drum set, and asked him to demonstrate. Then he was dissatisfied with the answer, as though Steve Gadd would know what rudiments around the drum set would sound like. It's like asking Moses about the Torah and then saying "dude, that's not right."

definately take notes imo. If you are a quick transcriber, definately bring manuscript paper. I wish they would let you bring a pad and some sticks to the clinic. But then again 50 drummers trying, and failing to play the same thing on a drum pad would probably get really obnoxious. ha

do you think it would be appropriate to take a drumhead and try and get him to sign it?

I don't see why not. I would wait til after the clinic obviously. If your lucky he'll do a meet and greet style thing at the end and you can go up and talk to him. If not oh well. I don't see anyreason why it would be inappropriate so I'd say go for it. Of course he could always be one of those guys who hates autographs too/.

I just saw him last week. All you can do is just sit there and be entertained, or overwhelmed, but he doesn't really teach anything. The program is awesome or tiring, depending on if you like the style of music (electronic/disco/dance) he plays. He signs stuff like drumheads afterward, but I think you are expected to buy them.

correct me if I'm wrong but you have access to the internet right? Of course you do, otherwise you wouldn't be posting. Do you know what access to the internet means? It means you have google. Ask the oracle, for it knows all.

Sure. Go for it. Take a coated head and then hang it in your room after he signs it. You can also take a cheap or cracked Sabian cymbal and get him to sign that too. Bring a camera with LOTS of film or mem cards.

Enjoy and have fun!!
