Was just wondering if it would be possible to turn a dw5000 single kick into a
double kick?

Thanks

To my knowledge DW doesn't sell a single to double conversion kit. I know Pearl does, but not DW. At least they don't have it on their website.

Contact DW or you have your local DW dealer contact DW and ask them for the parts you need. I now you can order any part you want down to the springs in the pedal. All you need is a second dw single pedal then order the linkage part and you can convert it yourself. I would check ebay first, you could find a legit dw double pedal for cheaper than the parts cost.

Hey,

I know it has been done and can be done but not sure how easy it is to do or how hard to get hold of the needed parts. Try a DW supplier and maybe they can sell you the correct parts or could you trade in your current pedal and use the money towards the cost of buying a double pedal new?

I found this on the DW website under FAQs. Hope it helps.

Single Pedal/Double Pedal Conversion:
It's possible that you can upgrade to a double pedal, however, the answer really depends on your current pedal. The easiest way to upgrade is to buy a 5012--the primary side of a double pedal unit and the connecting universal rod. Your existing pedal will then be used as the slave pedal in the double unit. Before you order one, you will want to make sure that the stroke adjustment (the black, tear-drop shaped piece that sits above the spring) attached to the hex shaft is SQUARE. In other words, the end of the hex shaft that sticks out of the pedal needs to be square in shape. If not, the 5012 will not work. A 9000 single cannot be upgraded to a double pedal.

...You would probably be better off buying a used double.

If you have to order a conversion kit, you will likely pay as much or more than you would for a good used double pedal complete. I don't know where you live, but in my little corner of drum heaven, used doubles, (DW, Pearls, and Iron cobras ) are pretty common, and can be had at pretty good prices.

If you have not played a double before, you may also want to pick up an el cheapo off brand pedal, just to get a feel for it.

Whatever you decide, good luck, and good drumming
