oh man..i would love to hear those things...the system they use isnt that great looking. but the natural finish really makes it look 100X better! very very nice man!

There is absolutely no hole in the shell. Yess, It's a special looking drum. I haven't tried yet but it should sound very good. At the beginning, I did"nt like the look very much but now, I think it's very cool 8o)

Yeah, I used to say "only a mother could love the look of these drums". But now long out of production, they have a certain "je ne sais quoi" to them. And they always sounded slammin' good. Very nice kit. Love the natural finish.

One of the best sounding kits I have ever tried out. Agent Drew, I offcially hate you for owning a kit I do not! :p Geez, I really wish I could get my hands on some Radial Pro 1000s... I'm one of those who have always loved the look of these drums.

What are the sizes? Did you get them of eBay or something?

I think the Peavey drums look great. What think looks awkward are DW drums, which have godawful huge lugs and oafish suspension systems and big badges that hide the finish.

They Peaveys have very little hardware covering the shell. I think they look elegant.

I agree that they have a certain charm about them. I think if Peavey re-released them they'd probably be semi successful now.

When they came out, I laughed & jeered & said "who'd wanna play those goofy looking thread spools?" I've heard the drums, & heard the reviews, & now I think they're extremely cool mostly because they are unique. But then again, I think North drums are cool too.

They are very thin 3ply maple shells if I remember well. The sound is awesome, especially the kick.

They do sound really good though, especially that kick for some reason. There's one of these in black in pawn shop up here. It's been there for years.

Hello everybody, it sounds like there's a lot of people in here who has heard/tried these drums..
I Personally think they look super-funky!
weel, to the point: i got this offer, but i would like to hear if you think i should accept it..

it's the the Peavey Radial 1000
and the sizes are:
22x18
10x8
12x9
14x12
16x14

well, they are in near mint condition, and the colour is cream-white.
price: 1000£ or 2000$ and i believe they used to be 3000£ or 6000$ from new..

To me it sounds like a great offer, but what do you think?

Perfect example of branding bringing down an ingenious idea. You truly have one of the most unique kits to be produced in the last century. If it had a badge that said Pearl or Ludwig or DW, these kits would probably still be in production. I'll bet over time, they will be one of the most sought after collectors kits. How are those donut radial bridges attached to the shell anyway? are they glued on?

I use to own one in wmp, I bought it years ago at Hermes music in San Antonio. They sold it to me for $1,000 new because they couldn't move them. I sold it a few months later for $600 because I couldn't move it. I hate to be a wet blanket, but they didn't sound very good, but on the upside you could roll them across the floor.

the rbs-1's and the rp1000's are one of the most incredible sounding kits ever made, when i bought mine i went to the music store with the idea in my head i was gonna buy my dream kit, all maple and money wasn't gonna be a factor and eventually narrowed it down to an all maple dw kit, yamaha maple custom absolute and the strange blue kit, those were the 3 best sounding kits they had in stock at that time, ((( actually the roland v drums were in there too and were priced about the same too but i was shopping for an acoustic kit )))) i went back to the music store and played them all several times, actually hoping i would change my mind about which i thopught sounded better, but that thick maple snare and the wide open, no pillow, big and deep thud of the kick drum kept drawing me in, they sounded like they were aleady miked thru a pa system, actually thinking it was all in my head and it was just cause there different looking i brought an old school drummer i knew with me to check them out too and he agreed "those are some really good sounding drums", anyway i have been gigging with them now for 10 years, and have yet to have a sound man not go "wow" except if they have already worked with a set and then its either "right on" or 'you just made my job easy" , and i swear im not making that up, that being said a lot of studios are buying up whats out there even the 500 and 750 series, and most guys that had 1 set now have multiple sets or at least some extra pieces, ive even seen studio drummers with kits that dont match, colors and or series. now im not sayin that everything else should be burnt...lol, lord knows if i win the lottery, my house would look like drums are us there would be multiple sets from multiple manufactures and probably some 1 of a kind customs as well, i just want people to be aware of the fact that steven volpp's radial bridge drum design was defenatily a high end drum, wheathe build buy peavey or some new co.
ps. also some say that due to the thin shells that make them resonate so well also makes them too fragile to use on the road, i say BS ,ive got some nicks and scuffs just like any other road kit would get but only cosmetic, just buy good cases, protect your investment, ya never seem to see a gibson les paul or a fender strat without a case , do ya,,,, really??

Yes, that's an inside joke amoungst owners and former owners of those obnoxious looking kits.
You mean there is more than one white pearl kit in existance? They told me I had the only one.

They must be heavy as! My friend has a shlesinger (cant spell it) and it has the same sort of system - no holes - all free floating and it is a bitch to carry around!

The snare is pretty heavy but that's what gives it its tone, I've been gigging these things around now for 10 years, and dont notice it, dont even remember if i ever noticed a difference in weight as when i bought these i had not played in about 8 years, and my orig kit was made from plywood shells and stamped steel hardware and had been recovered with arborite so they had some weight as well, to be honest im so used to them now that i would miss them on the road, the way they sound of course, and how easy they are to play, tune and mike which is adherent to any high quality drum kit, but they also look so large on stage and really dont take up any more space its just more full, and the tech. guys like them up cause there is so much shiny maple to reflect the lights, there are a couple other kits i would love to have for my studio including another mint set of these or RBS-1's , or maybe even a new set if things go well for Steven Volpp, but it would be so strange to play live without my radials.
