Just some random shots i was mucking around with after a practice. I'm experimenting with the 8'' tom next to the hats and i'm getting two knew Paiste 2oo2 crashes soon, another 18" and a 20".

Pearl Export in Gun metal sparkle

8", 10". 12", 14", 16" toms

22" bassdrum

Chad Smith sig snare

Paiste cymbals, mixture of 2oo2, 502, 802 and 505.

Old cymbals drilled/rivetted and mixed together into a smash cymbal (for The Mars Volta songs)

I would like to get a new kit sometime soon, but i lack the funds.

why do you want to get a new kit? that one looks pretty awesome to me, its been a while since I saw someone with an export. toms on the left side are always fun. gotta love mars volta!

Well i hate having my floor tom on a rack, i want floor mounting, which is a poor excuse, but also the toms don't have the sound i'm after. But don't get me wrong, it's a great kit and i'm going to stick around with it for a long time i do beleive.

Neat setup with the tom on the left. I'd like to hear what those two mangled cymbals sound like - looks like that vibrate off each other when struck?

Your room looks like a mess, though.

Yeah it's a short sizzley-smashing crash sound, i'm going to customise it more in the future when i have more materials.

Yeah it's my garage really which has a lot of stuff in it, but in truth it's pretty clean, just that shot makes it look messier then it really is.

I may make a video of me playing some Mars Volta with the smash cymbal so i'll let you know!

Cheers everyone

Sweet setup.

Those Danny Carey sticks are too much for me. How do you like em?

I feel like i'm going to break though every cymbal and drumhead I hit. They are so thick and heavy.

I love them! They're so balanced and agile, yet have so much power. I like how, combined with my heavy hitting, they really bring out the full sound of the toms.

They didn't feel heavy to me, i am accustomed to 5B extreme sticks and these felt strangely lighter.

505s are just sweet sounding cymbals. I got a 20" ride... it's too awesome. I like your cymbals, it's always nice to see a shiny 2oo2.

Yeah my friend gave me an old 20" Medium crash, but unfortunatly it's now got 2 cut out cracks from it and another crack appearing from an older one. It surprisingly still sounds great though! Can't beat Paiste.

Are 505's really rare or something? I don't know much about them.

Basically they were created by Paiste as a "student" or budget line of cymbals, meant to resemble 2oo2s in that they had similar hammering and also the same bronze. The lathing is somewhat different though. For whatever reason, perhaps they didn't sell, Paiste discontinued the line. However used ones pop up around eBay, craiglist, etc. There are some Paiste afficianados who claim that 505s are some of the best sounding cymbals they've heard. I'm in love with the sound of my ride, so I'm glad I was able to pick it up off of eBay.

Shame to see the cracks in yours... if it sounds good, though, that's all that matters. And you could always cut it down if things got really bad. Or if you don't care for it you could give it to me :-D

Makes for some interesting sounds!

I've made another cymbal, 2 splashs on a hihat stand and stuff, pictures may be up soon and possibly a video.
