So this is my Kit that i've had for about 2 and a half years now. Its a Ludwig Accent CS Custom (i think thats the full name) ...They're birch shells, which sound alright. Im pretty satisfied with my setup right now, except my 16" floor tom has a warped hoop or shell or something, because it never stays tuned and the hoop always slips off the head. This is why ive started using my 13" as a floor. Its pretty lame since it doesnt go as low as i want, but its better than a head with no tension. I still have the 16 there, it stays in tune a little longer when i dont use it as much. As far as cymbals go, i'm not happy with my crashes or china. The vaults sound great, but im just not a small crash guy, and ive realized this from playing them a lot. Im looking at getting some big 19 or 20 inch HHX's in the future. The 17" is quite nice tho, but i cracked it under the bell.
Im looking at special ordering some Pearl Masters Customs in the next couple of weeks. I'll probably get orange or black sparkle fade with sizes 22 10 16. What do you guys think?
Anyways, heres the kit, please leave some comments!

Nice gear! I've also realized I like larger crashes recently, I have a 16" AAX Crash which is gathering dust as of now. Gotta love the Manhattan Jazz hats. I like the Manhattan rides a lot, I almost picked one up once actually.

Thanks for the comments guys, yea the manhattans are pretty nice. Theyre really crisp and loud, and when combined with my vintage hats that are super washy they blend nicely.

Nice kit bud, I got the same one. I lilke this kit more than my dw to be honest, for the simple fact that you can play with it a lot more. Might not sound as good, but I can have fun with it

Wow, this post was dug up by someone. Thanks for the comments guys.
Pimpmyride, you actually like this more than your dw? lol, well...i wouldnt say i like mine that much. Do you mean you dont have to be as careful with it? Or that its more versatile?

Im looking at Yamaha Absolute maples right now, Ive been keeping my eyes open on ebay for some deals...but im not sure what color i want. Suggestions?

Nice kit and cool color.

Ludwig has some nice finishes in the Accent line these days.

I like your set up, and I'm also a fan of larger cymbals (19 and up).

The 16's problem is probably the hoop itself, which, if it's never stayed in tune and has always slipped, it was probably bent in shipping and you can't tell just by looking at it while it's on the drum.

Usually, if a drum just won't tune up because of a warped shell, the hoop at least stays on the drum head rim and isn't off to one side.

In any case, a 16" hoop isn't that expensive at all, and just might solve your problem so you can use that drum all you want.

I'd swap the top and bottom hoops first and see if the other rim stays put (& tunes up and stays), and if that works, then get a new hoop for the bottom so they both are in round.

Also, make sure that the rods aren't dirty or have too much grease on them to make them prone to backing out.
If they've never been cleaned off, it's probably a good idea to clean them anyway.

If the rim doesn't turn out to be the problem, I'd take it to the shop--they should be able to tell you if the shell is warped or not if you can't tell on your own.

Ludwig's warranty period is pretty long & your kit isn't that old (2 1/2 years right?) so it should still be under warranty.

Good luck with it, and nice kit again.
