My new PDP's

I'm loving this kit, a big step up from my Swingstars. I can't wait to put new heads on though, being I'm more of a fan of coated heads. But even now they are sounding really good.

Yeah, it could be that I'm pretty tall so my arms are long enough to reach them. Also, the pork pie is a little snare so the distance might look a little exaggerated, I don't know. Don't worry, comfort is a top priority to me..it seemed to take me forever to get the tom where I wanted it to be to. But this was my first time setting up a suspension mount lol.

It looks like your hi-hat stand has legs that can rotate so you can bring it in much closer. I am very tall too but prefer my hats much closer than that. I would even recommend having the hi-hat pedal to the right of the slave pedal of your Cobra's.

What are your first thoughts of that 8x13 tom? Sweet! I think PDP did something cool with those cut-sizes on the 805 ktis ......w/ some premier heads, ...that kit WILL rock dude!

hola, i got my PDP 805 a few weeks ago, mine are the smaller sizes and in all white.


got myself some evans coated EC2's and they sound fantastic.

id definately recomend them on the 805..

I would even recommend having the hi-hat pedal to the right of the slave pedal of your Cobra's.

I have never understood how you can put the hi hat stand to the right of the slave kick pedal. If you put the hi-hat behind the connecting rod, the rod is right in the way of where your foot goes... and if you were to put it in front, your slave pedal would have to be wayy off behind somewhere...

If you do this with your own setup, could you post a pic of it?

I played an 805 kit at Guitar Center last weekend. I have to admit, for an itermediate kit . . . it blew me away. It was 8x12, 12x14, 12x16, 18x20, and the 7x13" snare (White on white). I personally prefer chrome lugs, etc. but then again I'm older than 25, so maybe I just don't "get it". Anyway, very nice kits at an affordable price.

I took your advice and adjusted the stand today, and it made me realize they were too far away. Only by a little really though, and I realized that I did have to turn my body just a little to get to them comfortably. I guess I had just been playing like that for so long with nobody mentioning that I didn't really notice lol.

That's good to hear, drumming and switching foot position will be a lot more comfortable and natural this way. If it's still any help, here's a pic of my kit, you can just see how I set up the pedals:

Note how the hi-hat legs are rotated ;)
By the way, at the moment I have the base of the slave pedal standing behind that hi-hat leg so the slave pedal is a little further away but I like it that way.

Oh i see, thanks for the pic.

Checked my kit though, and my hi-hat leg supports aren't that far above the connecting rod, so its not possible.

My hi hat stand is in the right place for me anyway, if i bring it in as far as i can.
