I want to get a nice big kit for my "ten years of playing anniversary" and I'm starting to raise funds for it now plus there will be a little loan from my parents so there isn't a price limit yet.
I wanted to know what kit is better in sound (both for gigging and recording) and durability.
And overall, which one is bestEST (lol)

last time I checked those two were in different categories. The superstars are intermediate and the saturns are pro, or very high intermediate.

saturns for sure if price is not a concern. but are these the two you have your mind set on for sure?

My Tama first option was a Starclassic Maple but in my coutry those are really hard to get. Any other suggestion will be just fine.

thanks for the tip, I'm considering it, the bad thing is that there seems to be no Pearl dealer in my country so it will be hard to order it customly to fit my plan.

I own Tama Sup Customs and have played around a fair amount on a new Saturn kit at a local store. They are very different kits; Sups are primarily birch, shorter resonance, tune higher and sound very bright, while the Saturns are primarily maple, longer resonance, sound warmer and like to tune lower. I also think the walnut layer adds some darker tones to the Saturn (reminded me of bubinga).

In the end, I bought a new set of Tama Starclassic Maple EFX at an incredible price. Definitely happy with them!!!

Hope that helps.
