Something that you like is by definition not wrong.

I have a Ddrum 7x14 redish/orange burst. It sounds really good. Deep w/a decent crack. A great deal for $129. Nice looking also. I have looked at the Tama's before also. But they were $100 more then the Ddrum. I actualy wasnt planning on buying a snare at the time. But I could not pass it up. I put some money down and payed it off a little while later. I didnt want to take a chance someone else would buy it.
Get what your willing to pay for and what's need for your playing situation.

well the only bad thing about ddrum that keeps popping up is the bearing edges have some quality issue and it's not always necessarily straight.

Tama would seem to be a saver bet to me personally for individual snares.
But I don't talk with experience as I have not own any ddrum stuff nor really spent a lot of time with it. Perhaps you can ask kindly if you can check for the ddrums bearing edge.

I've seen drums of all brands come into a shop with bad beds. See how it sounds, if you dig it,buy it beds or not. Beds can always be recut.

Don't buy anything without testing at least a similar model in a shop with a few different tunings or heads. Some one at the drum shop (actually named 'the drum shop') loves to crank the snares in there. its rare that i hit a drum that has some low end to it in there.
