I'm deciding between a 14x7 GMS Special Edition series maple snare and a Pork Pie maple 14x7. Pork Pie and GMS SE / Grandmaster are equivalent in terms of "high end," so which one would you go with? I like the sound of both but was wondering if anyone had any insights on either drum that I might be missing. Are the bearing edges better of one versus the other? Is the hardware/strainer/throw-off of one better than the other? etc.

Thanks!

If money wasn't. an object I'd go with GMS there lug design alone is second to none don't. get me wrong I like both companies I just like GMS better IMO I like the SE series better because you can see more of the shell but that's just personal preference.

Buy both and send them to me... within several years I should have a verdict, and I'll send you back one of them.

shane at just drums had both in his shop when i visited. both were great but the GMS were much better drums in my opinion. pork pie makes trendy drums. very nice but tendy. GMS makes classic, timeless drums.
