HQ Soundoff Universal Bass Mute

Anybody have one of these? If so, what do you think of it? I am thinking of getting one, but it looks like it makes the beater surface about 1.5 to 2 inches closer to the beater, which I'm thinking might throw me off if I get used to that.

Otherwise, any tips for easily muting the bass drum? (i.e. not taking the head off and stuffing things inside. I don't want to switch it out every time I gig or record.)

Everyones dead in the water on this one.


A giant, thick, heavy blanket(s) that wont scratch finish) laid over the bass drum which covers the front head, leaving a slot for the beater to move through.

Its garbage, dont buy it. I made the mistake and bought one and it will throw you off. You'll have to adjust your kick beater to play it. It does muffle the sound down to a click (depending on the type of beater) I ended up placing mine on the fron of the bass drum which isn't nearly as quiet but it does mute the sound a good bit.
