Does anyone know anything of the GMS Jazz City Maple drums? Four packs are only about 1,100. This is much cheaper than any other quality band jazz sets. All info on these is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

GMS makes some of greatest drums in the world. A 4pc shell pack will go WAY over $1100 USD though....unless it's used.

Yes, he is talking about the CL series, which are made overseas. I've played on a CL series City Jazz kit at Indoor Storm and they sound pretty good. I was not super impressed with the workmanship, though. On the kit I used, which was brand new, there were some wood shavings still attached to the inside of the tom shells near the screws, and the screws were not all nicely bolted on the inside of the shell. Minor stuff, but I expect a clean product if I'm going to fork over $1,000 or more.

I think these flaws were mainly due to their manufacture overseas. The "real" GMS kits I've played on--the Grandmaster or Special Edition series--are very nice, very well put together. Those kits get the quality control of GMS's main USA factory, but the CL apparently not.
