I had no idea that metal vocal god Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden is an airline pilot. He flies a Boeing 757, holy wow! Can you imagine hearing... "This is your captain, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Our cruising altitude will be 36,000 feet and our in-time flight will be roughly 4 1/2 hours. Sit back, relax and enjoy your flight."

Nothing unusual about a flying drummer........that's my life.......but even if a person was able to afford to be trained to fly multi-engine jets, it's probably a drummers mentality (just a few) that go that Big.

That is my thought as well, but I didn't have any documented proof that it parallels a drummers mental pattern, (especially multi-engine) so it could be taken only as an opinion. It would be an interesting study to see the comparissons.

and he is really good. I saw him on discovery channel, he knows everything about civilian and commercial aviation, the whole timeline thing. I only know how to fly by my own a Piper Cub. Anyway, whatever happend to Clive Burr?

Always amuses me to think of him opening is his paycheque at the end of the month.
Saw him on the news when that budget airline went to the wall and left a load of tourists stranded in Canada. He was clearly feeling good about being part of the 'rescue charter'.

Bruce (Air Raid Siren) Dickinson: An dynamic and multi-functional man...enjoy it!

Dickinson's interests include literature, writing, fencing (at which he has competed internationally, and he also founded a fencing equipment company under the brand name "Duellist"), train technology and flying Boeing 757 charter jets for the UK charter airline Astraeus where he is employed as a First Officer. He was taught to fly by British Airways commercial pilot Captain Phil Dales.

In the summer of 2006, Dickinson flew about 200 UK citizens home from Lebanon during the Israel/Hezbollah conflict. On 12 February 2007, Dickinson was given permission to fly Rangers F.C. to Israel for their UEFA cup game against Hapoel Tel Aviv. Dickinson asked if he could pilot this flight as soon as he found Astraeus had the contract for it. After the collapse of XL airways in September 2008 he piloted an Iceland Express aeroplane and flew home 180 stranded holiday makers from Egypt, as well as a Boeing 747 with a group of british RAF pilots from Afghanistan. "A lot of them recognised him because they are Maiden fans, but he was there in his professional capacity as a pilot," says an RAF spokesman.

Guys i knew this since like 3 years ago when he presented a series of documentaries about the history of flight. It was called "flying heavy metal".

Also, they used it for their "Somewhere back in time" tour, and I saw it parked in a hangar at O'hare (Chicago) airport. Oddly enough, which is directly across the street from the Allstate Arena where they played at that evening.
