Floor tom clamp?

Hey, I want to have my floor tom much higher, aka off the ground, but I have no idea how to go about it without any drillling and such, like a clamp.

You could also just install RIMS as well but a full depth floor tom might be a bit too heavy for that.

I have a 14 by 14 tom suspened, as a don't like there to be a "drop off" between any toms - you could say I play 4 up, zero down.

If you get some 3/8 inch steel rod from the hardware store and cut it to length, you can raise your floor tom as high as you like, without any additional drilling.

I have my 14 by 14 mounted and it works fine. And it's at least as heavy as a 16 by 16. If you want to avoid the drop-off between rack and floor toms - if you want a smooth flow of drums for visual and technique purposes - mounting is the only way to go.

Good question. I dealt with the same issue. What I decided to do is change reso and batter head on my 16'' and flip it over that way the brackets are closer to the batter head. I bought a gibraltar tom mount because it has the round universal arm and also fits in my pearl icon clamp. Unfortunately It didn't fit the mapex bracket so I replaced the bracket with a slightly larger one and it holds perfect. No more hasle with the 3 floor tom legs.

I am fairly certain there are extra long floor tom legs out on the market.
If not then you can buy some Metal rod (dowls) at the same diameter as the ones you have now. You could even bend the ends to make them look however you wanted, get some rubber feet to put on them. If you have a grinder or know someone who does use the grinder at the top to taper the end a little. Grab you some anti-rust metal paint and paint them what ever color you want. Custom Floor tom legs are probably the easiest thing to make on a drumset.
Another option is to use metal rod and weld it to the top end of your existing floor tom legs, this could be easier or harder depending on you personal experiences with metal and welding.

If you are only looking for an inch or two, take your existing Floor tom legs, which should have an offset bend near the bottom, like this.....

you can flatten out those bends just a little bit, (as if you were trying to make the leg go back to being straight) that would make the leg a little bit longer. But probably not more than a maximum of 2" (depending on what kind of legs you have and what offset bend is in them)
If they are typical legs with the typical offset bend then flattening out the bends a little would probably add about an 1".
But it should be mentioned if you do this to all the legs it will make the drum a little less stable.
