I personally found this video absolutely hilarious, and takes the cake as the best video I have ever seen on the internet, anywhere. Just pure hilarity... I love it.

I love Bill Cosby. One of the best story tellers of all time. And he dropped the names of some of the best players in Jazz. May Roach, Mickey Roker, Lee Morgan, Sonny Stitt, Archie Shepp, Reggie Workman... Give this video a watch.

Thanks for the post! I had tears streaming down my face with laughter. Bill is so great with a story. He & Max go way back and were very close friends as well.

Brilliant. Thanks for that. I knew Bill was a composer but I never knew he played drums.
I actually remember Max Roach being on an episode of the Cosby Show back in the 80's.

I couldn't help laughing. It is a bit exaggerated for the sake of being comic but that "Cherokee" sit -in story is absolutely great and might have been partly true. Better abstain from sit-in in a jam if one isn't ready to play that fast Ha Ha! Thanks for the link.

Ha ha, he really is some story teller. I love the part where he says that, at that point, the band hadn't actually started playing yet.

In addition to being funny, Bill Cosby is full of wisdom. He is a very smart man and has many good things to say. He takes a lot of criticism for it, but it's things that need to be said.

Bill Cosby is awesome! I've seen this clip a few times now, and it's still great.
My first jazz jam, the piano player asked me if I wanted to play "cherokee", and I didn't know the tune at the time. Good thing I said no. Holy cow! That would have turned out just like Bill described in his experience. "Straight, No Chaser" was more my speed at the time.

The best part is when he is explaining what his feet are doing while his upper body keeps spazzing out.
