I deliver for a restaurant called Green Mill, which is fairly regional in the upper midwest.

I make minimum wage, but actually pull down about 25-30 bucks an hour with tips.

It pays the bills...

I also gig with various jazz groups pretty heavily and have been in a few well paid cover bands in the past. Looking forward to getting back into heavier playing, but for now the jazz is keeping me afloat both artistically and financially so I can't complain.

I work for an IT outsourcing company in the Vail valley of Colorado. There are lots of small businesses (and larger ones too) without their own IT staff, so we take care of their PCs, servers, networks, firewalls, etc.

I am an Account Manager - I have 1 client and I manage every part of their IT: servers, PCs, budgets, long-term planning, etc. It basically equates to an IT director position, except I do not work for the compant I support.

I work as a person everybody hates. I sell things over the phone (tele.marketing?). But, I earn about $700 a month, and I don't have to pay taxes, bacause I am sixteen years old. So I do allright, I like to think. I can at least afford my own sticks! I also teach a student, that is currently starting up. That is very fun, and it is a great experiance both to me, and hopefully to him, as well.
Plus, I go to school every day to hopefully be a musician. (I go to a musical school, I have gone to school for 10 years, this is my 11th. What kind of school would I go to in the US.? College?)

Do I work? Heck, I have a family, a mortgage, etc. etc. You bet I work. I MOSTLY work.

I still find time to practice on a pad daily, on the kit several times a week, and with other musicians as needed (depends on the gig/project). A lot of the musicians I play with are veterans in a similar position to me; we can learn thirty new cover songs by listening to the recordings and then rehearsing for four or five hours to tighten it up, learn endings, etc. Working on originals takes a bit different approach...

But yeah, I work.

i work 40 hours a week.... in fact... im at work right now =O hahahaha

im a drafter for an architectural firm... I find time for drumming ussualy by watchin some vids and listenin to some grooves from drummerworld while at work and then going home and practice about 3-4 hours a day... i also have multiple band rehersals with 3 differnt groups... So monday 8-11, tusday is personal practice then wednesday 7-12 then thrusday lessons with Matt Scurfield.. the drummer that plays with Gary Hoey. ( btw i just started taking lessons, been playing for nine years but i feel like theres a time where you need to be able to learn new stuff and get a really good teacher to help you. ) and then fridays i get to peform, then practice at 8 to 10 am on saturday then play saturday nights and sunday nights... so basically im playing drums all week long. =)

I worked in our metal shop before it was discovered I was good with computers, now I am drafting with Autocad, and a 3D modeler called Metacam.

I've recently gotten into Visual Basic, and VBA implementing them into what I do and making programs to "draw for me" the basic things I need in a drawing, then I will add the specific and custom items. It cut my work from 3-4 days per building to approx 4-6 hours.

Currently, I'm a warehouse receiver during the day and father/husband/drummer/teacher at night. I used to deliver water and softener salt for many years but suffered a hernia and was pretty much forced to look for other employment. My dream is to one day own a drum shop and repair drums and other instruments.

I'm a chef, but I have decided to try something new.

I now work at a not-for-profit hotel that caters to people from out of town, that are visiting the hospitals here in Halifax. Its an extremely simple gig, and you get to interect with the guests one on one. Some are in for cancer treatment, some for dialisis, every guest has a story.

Its very rewarding, which I can not say about other restaurants or hotels I've worked in over the years.

And after seeing the hell a lot of these folks are going through, I've gained a great appreciation for how damn good my life really is.

I'm a Graphic Designer (degree and everything! woo-hoo.).

I've worked at a couple big Ad agencies and Studios, a couple small places, a couple weekly newspapers....

I worked at the Metro Times (for those in the Mi/Detroit area), back when it wasn't crappy in the late 80's.

Overall, at the agencies, I've only hated the people that needed to be hated, and the field has been steady, good paying, and pretty cool.

I've gotten to do some real cool stuff over the years, and I came up "BC" (before computers), so that's been cool.

We used to do things a lot differently.

Stuff that would take weeks can be done in 1, maybe 2 days, because you have everything at your fingertips, instead of waiting for this or that person to do their 'part'.

The things that haven't changed are that people still expect miracles, like you just wave a freakin' wand or something, and they don't want to pay what it's worth.

That goes for anything I guess.

I've been working a cool a$$ job for the last 15 years for a Custom Screen Printing shop.

There hasn't been a day when I've said "God, I just do not want to go in today", so that's a real blessing for sure, and I ONLY work M-F 9-5.

Back to work!

i don't know if i would call it a day job, but i own a swim school, intotheswim.com (http://intotheswim.com). i started it because when ever i didn't have a tour i always taught swimming. now it runs without me for the most part. i tour whenever i want and fortunately it is successful enough i can be more selective on what gigs/tours i want to do. to be honest, you'll find a lot of "pro" musicians are doing similar things.

Well...

I'm a golf manager/club fitter for a driving range & teaching facility on the eastern shore of Maryland.

I love golf as much as drums, if you can believe that.

I'm presently an unemployed electrical engineer and CAD driver. A lot of what I do now goes overseas for a lot of companies :( If things don't get better soon, I'll start practicing the phrase "would you like to supersize that?"

I'm a video game artist, mainly focused on special effects. I spend most of my day making game characters catch on fire, electrocuted, poisoned, frozen, exploded, dismembered or disintegrated. Honestly, this is the only thing I'd rather do for a living besides playing drums, so I consider myself to be incredibly fortunate to be able to do it. I mean, how many people on this planet actually get paid to make zombie vomit? It's gotta be a very small number.
