Setting up a double pedal?

Hey,
I've finally decided to use a double pedal.
My big dog pro pedal turned up this morning, but I have no idea how to set it up!
I can't get any respone from the left pedal, as i don't know how to turn back the beaters.
The right pedal setted up fine, as Im used to singles, so basically How do I sort out the chain on the left pedal?
Also, I can't get the pedals into a place where everything is easily accesible, so any advice on placement would be nice, or just any useful sites.

The left pedal should be snug with the hi-hat pedal position.
Should be roughly where your left foot natually is.

I think you're forgetting to rotate the beater holder an extra turn. Make sure your chain/strap is fully loaded onto the beater holder. Once you do that, thats when you attach the extension rod to the left pedal.

Yeah, tried doing that, but the problem is I cant attach the shaft once I rotate the chain round, it won't fit,

Post a picture of what it looks like, we'll be better able to help you if we have some visual information. As for the placement of your left pedal, do the legs of your hi-hat stand rotate? This will facilitate positioning.
I always place the left kick pedal to the left of my hihat pedal since I use the hihat pedal more.

Soundls like you might have the shaft incorrectly attached at one end. Take everything apart and start again. Also , make sure that the square headed nuts on the shaft attachments are fully out, sometimes they can be fiddly.

Ok, Ill start again with it, but, just incase, here are some "Pictures" They're not very good, and they're on a mobile phone, so sorry in advance.
The first picture shows what the pedal is like without the shaft on, pic 2 is just an overview, picture 3 is meant to show the groove in the shaft, and pic 4 shows what it should look like when I rotate it round, but I cant get it to stay like that.

Ok, can you take the spring off so you can change the shaft without any resistance, or as with the DW 9000, remove the chain so hold and ajust to place the shaft on correctly.

If not, do you have a drum teacher or a mate who can help?

It will stay like that ( pic 4 ) once you manage to attach and tighten the extension rod on to the attachment lug correctly. The rod is what is going to kep the pedal from flopping flat down.

Yeah, I completly know what you're saying man, but I can't rotate the pedal round before attaching the shaft, because the shaft has that grove at the top which doesn't let me do it.
I know Im probably just doing something really stupid >.<

I see the problem, it's not the slave pedal but the center shaft and the left extension. You should take the left extension out of the shaft entirely and refit it in there rotated back one step (it is a hexagonal shaft extension isn't it?). That hexagonal extension slides out easily.

Tried it, but its not an hexagonal shaft, the extension itself is square, and the end of my shaft has a circular hole with a flat edge right at the top.

I think Big Phillys got it!

just re-jig everything backwards.

1) Take the shaft and attach it to the slave-pedal so that it rotates smoothly.

2) then connect the other end to the main shaft.

3) Connect the main shaft to your main pedal, just like you had it before.

Voila, that should do it!!?

Tried it, but its not an hexagonal shaft, the extension itself is square, and the end of my shaft has a circular hole with a flat edge right at the top.

What I mean is you should rotate the square shaft extension backwards 90 degrees. You should be able to take it all out and then put it back turned 90 degrees towards you. From what I see, turning that rod back 90 degrees (or maybe even 180 but you'll see if that's necessary) will put the slave pedal in the correct position.

Edit: if you still can't figure it out I'll take some pictures of mine tomorrow and show you what I mean.

It finally did it!!! Thanks ever so much guys, I would've been stumped on it for ages otherwise. And the positioning is a bit off, but that'll be fine after I have some fine tweaking.
my left foot isnt half as strong as I remember it to be either, my left foot will be having a strong workout soon.
