I need some hardware bags - suggestions?

I've got some Impact bags coming for all my drums and cymbals, but I still haven't got anything lined up for my hardware.

I have lots of bits and pieces and I will need something to accommodate a Gibraltar rack as well (see Link below My Kit).

Any suggestions?

Don't know the exact length you need, but I checked out a Protection Racket rolling hardware bag at my local store - it looked pretty roomy, had a couple side pockets, felt rugged, all in all VERY cool. I didn't get it cause I only play a four piece and just don't need that much. The price was only about a hundred bucks, too.

I have a Protection Racket too...the smallest bag which is I think 36x12x12. Great bag, I highly recommend it.

I prefer Humes & Berg bags over Protection Racket. Not as easy to find, but I think they're better made. Whatever brand you get, definitely go for a rolling style.

I got one of the largest Protection Racket bags with wheels. Still really bloody heavy but the wheels help A LOT!

Go to your local army-navy supply store and get a duffle bag with shoulder strap. Get the kind with the opening on one end (top). Everything can fit in there besides maybe your bass pedals. They are about 20 bucks, very durable, and don't take up as much space as a trap case when unpacked.

...I once bought a golf bag travel case at a garage sale to use as a harware bag.

This is the case that you fit your golf bag in for travel. It was cheap, roomy, and durable.
Not sure what new prices would be, but it may be worth your while to check out some of your local golf shops. Another idea may be to find a goalie hockey equipment bag although I do not know if you would find one to suit the length that you would need.

i use a huge suitcase. and i just put a piece of ply wood down in the bottom the reinforce it. works well for me!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the SKB hard golf cases. I actually found one at the local GC sold as a drum bag, but its made by SKB def as a golf case. You can probably get it for under $50 if you look really hard. Its a hard case with good handle and wheels on one end. For me it holds two heavy booms (with attachments), a straight stand, snare stand, floor tom legs, and throne base. I gig a lot and really love this thing, really stands up to the test.

The Army/NAvy Store also might have some of these which zip down the side. I have some of these myself and the do come in handy!

I love the "onstage stands" microphone stand/light stand bags. They're like 48-50" long (long enough to accomodate my longest gibraltar curved rack bar whcih i believe is 48") fairly sturdy and CHEAP. I have 3 of them and I got them all for 100 bucks total. I use one for 4 cymbal stands and a double tom stand, one for my hi hat, snare, throne base, floor tom legs and other misc small hardware like tom mounts, and the 3rd one is for my 3 sided rack.

My only complaint, which is fairly minor, is that the zippers wear out eventually, but I've had all three for probably 4 years and the zipper JUST broke on the one I use the most.
