By the way, what did she use for the outside "ply" of the roll? Algas?

they are special sushi seaweed mats/sheets called 'nori'.

Sushi is my fav. food on the planet. I'm very picky about my sushi too. I have never tried to make it myself and I think it would be fun to give it a shot. Your a lucky guy J... I need to show my wife this video.

I highly recommend the book, "The Connoiseur's Guide to Sushi", by Dave Lowry. It's a wonderful read on the history, terminology, and dining etiquette.

i don;t have that one but we've got quite a few books on the stuff. i love japanese culture as a whole. and have been growing bonsai since i was eleven.

I worked at a sushi bar for a few years after my road days. Your wife did a great job. I have tried making my own, but it's been a bust every time (even after two years at the restaurant). I will give your sweetums recipe a try.

lol. i will tell her. thanks. a lot of folks don't realise that its making the rice properlythat'sreally hard. a lot of youtube videos are about rolling sushi but none that we could findshow making the rice. go agi!
