problem with my double pedal..

i have just changed my double pedal over to my new mapex, and when go to play it, the right beater hits the drum perfect, and the left one stop about a centimetre away from the bass drum skin.
when it stops it sounds like its hitting a pieve of metal or something.

can anyone tell me why htis is happening and how to fix it?

Sounds like the pedal is bottoming out and hitting the frame. Try adjusting the chain length and beater angle.

the only thing that comes to mind is your footboard is hitting the part of the pedal that clamps down on the rim. which would mean your footboard is too low.
