Jump Back was very different and another side of you. very cool composition. Nice work on the drums, there too, bud.

Wow, only listened to Days of Wine and Roses (sorry, I'm currently listening to Four & More by Davis), but criminey jimminey that was some smooth playing. Really digging your style and you can tell that the jazz studies at Uni have payed off! I heard some of your stuff before on your myspace - that was really cool too, but you can definately see improvement.
Also I believe you met McCoy Tyner!? How was that? (Don't mean to sound like a stalker btw, I just happened to check out your myspace and saw that picture of you two.)
Hope that didn't sound too weird, but yeah great playing keep it up and you've got a great musical journey lined up for you.
How long ya been playing now?

Thanks for the compliments. I been playing jazz for about 6 or 7 years now. It all started at the Jamie Aebersold Jazz camp and the rest was history as they say.

I actually wrote the head to that tune Jump Back, and the piano player arranged it.

what's the time sig at the beginning of that song? on first listen, it sounds like a bar of 7/8, and a bar of 6 and a half after that....
that's my favorite tune , by far....i'm really digging your list of influences, too...i play primarily rock/fusion styles, so Pat Metheny (sanchez is a BEAST), Pastorius, Cobham, etc etc, all jumped out at me :-D
take care, man, and keep playin! i wish i had skills like that

Awesome. Really catchy. I don't know much about jazz but i don't think jazz tracks shed enough spotlight on the drummers. You sounded great though.

one of the main appeals to jazz is that ALL the musicians exhibit some degree of CONTROLLED virtuosity...if you know what to listen for, there are some mad chops going on, with every member of the group, at the same time....sure, each person might get a section to step out in front, but is drumming REALLY about being in the spotlight? i think not. Our friend here is doing an amazingly tasteful job at our collectively chosen craft

I like the jazz styles.
I always hear dead rhythms all day from NIN, and other tasteless bands.
at the end of the day i'm glad people that can play jazz still exist.

I suggest you listen to Tony Williams or Elvin Jones.
