I am looking at getting a tama artwood custom snare in custom charcoal (ccc) i clicked on the page to see a picture of the snare drum and it looks good.....then i was just clicking around on the superstar page and noticed they had a finish also called custom charcoal (ccc) and it looks brown. are these two finishes the same? I dont want to wind up with a brown snare drum when i go to order it. To save you guys the hassle of heading over to the tama site i have uploaded the finishes. Here they are. Please help me.

Is one on metal and one on wood?

the brownish one is on the tama superstar custom and the blackish one is on the tama artwood snare which is made of maple.

Custom Charcoal I believe looks more like the first, it's almost black.

but why is it brown under the superstar finishes? i would expect it to be black given its name. should i order one right away since the namm show is coming up soon? or do you think that these models will still be available?

i think other than the literal question, he was asking whether it was black or brown too...
sorry man, i have no idea i know i would probably be upset if i ordered a black drum and it showed up being brown, or vice versa.... good luck with that!

It isn't brown but more a lighter dark black which show the wood grain pattern. Under direct light and close view, it may look brown but it isn't.

Agreed - it's a semi-transparent stain, so the tone of the underlying wood will show through a little bit and affect the final appearance. The stain is black, but if the wood has a strong brown tone, you'll see some of that coming through.

Most likely it's just the way the photo was taken and the lighting used. It's a shame it's not 100% the same or a lot closer.
