Since the heading here is your place I thought I'd start this thread here we can move it if a more appropriate heading is created. I'm Jason Dorn from Rochester NY I've been playing almost 5 years and am in two bands Groove Nutt and Magnificent Sorcerers of Pan Tang as well as laying drum tracks for numerous other musicians. I'm 39 years old and plan on playing forever. Heres some pics of me one at 18 notice all the Iron Maiden posters behind me. Two pics of me now in work mode and band mode.

Well.. I'm Mediocrefunkybeat aks MFB aka Duncan Taylor. I turned 17 this month and I've been playing the drums for 3 years now. I hail from Gravesend, Kent, England. It's an awful place with two claims to fame. i) Pocohontas is buried here ii) Iron Maiden used to play here in the 70's. In two bands, 'The Family Mystery' and an unamed metal band; although recently I've lost motivation to work in a band.

Are you into jembes and other various percussion instruments? I love playing those jembes, such a great bass thud when you slap the center.

I love hand drums. I only have one small doumbek. I go to every faire and festival in the hope that there will be a drum booth, and then I sit there all day and drum with the owner. They usually appreciate someone drumming with them, as it attracts potential customers.

I am Jason S, 17 years of age, 6'2 (187 CM) tall, hailing from the New Orleans area Louisiana US of A. been playing 4 1/2 years self taught 100% so it took me a year or two to get off the ground. I am currently bandless, although I do play/jam with my brothers who play keys/mandolin and guitar.
Here is a pic... Enjoy my amazing fashion sense. I will try to get some of me and my drums taken.

Name: Eskil
Age: 24
Occupation: Student, drummer for Mean Genie
I've been drumming for about 3 years. I was actually playing drums when I was a kid too, but I never did become proficient at even the most basic of beast, so I finally gave it up when I was about 12. Picked up the guitar and played that for 10 years (became reasonably good too), but finally found my way back to my true calling. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on, for sure!

Well, to start, my name's Kazz. I'm 18 years old and I've been a drummer since I was 6. I'm the drummer for the band Xantherian Nemisis and we're currently working on recording a rough demo of some of our material. Think of us as Def Leppard and Rush influenced guitar with Rush, Kamelot and Nightwish influenced drumming and that's our style (melodic hard rock).

Here are a few pics of me. I live in the swiss Alps which is place I find very inspirational, the second picture below is like about less than 1 hour walking from my home.
As dogbreath likes his cigares I love smoking a good pipe.
The picture with me playing the kit was taken in winter 2004 so it's not that new. I have now remove one tom.
What else could I say......I'm a big Jethro Tull fan as you can see on my shirt, and my biggest drum inspirations are Tim Alexander, Danny Carey, Michael Giles and Jimmy Chamberlain.

Can I ask, does Yamaha help you out (endorsed?) or does your relationship with people like Levon Helm influence your choice in drums (keeping in mind, I have no idea what drums Helm plays). It just seems odd that a young player like you would like Yamaha, because its not a trendy flashy brand. You must have good taste, hehe!
My 9 year old is interested in drumming, and pretty good, but he doesn't seem to share your enthusiasm and discipline for drumming. I suspect you have a rare talent indeed.
Good luck to you, and stick with it!

No Yamaha doesn't endorse me..yet!...lol....j/k...I wish they would someday....I made my choice because Levon plays Yamaha...Eddie Bayers plays Yamaha as well as my drum teacher...and we own a Yamaha quad so it all fits....I do love my new set though and feel I made a good choice...anyway I hope your son picks up the drums...as for me I think I must of been born to play...i can't remember a time that I didn't....if you think it may help your son maybe you can show him my site sometime...if he sees how much fun a nine year old can have with it maybe it will give him a boost....it is www.tylerhough.com

Well he doesn't play like YOU play. He can keep a steady beat, but he really doesn't yet understand 8 bar phrasing and simple stuff like coming back to ONE, yet.
He seems to be more into guitar than drums, which I encourage. Reading and playing music can only help, if he wants to drum later ( I played violine for 6 years before playing drums).
As for Yamaha, I just sold a Stage Custom kit (which was really good for the money) and got a new Beech Custom kit with a Maple Custom Absolute kick (best bass drum sound ever!!!).
I'll post some pics in October, when I get to England with my new wife and my new kit!

Hey....I got a few of those drum set shirts on eBay, but they've been in the malls too. Liberty did a clinic a few years ago here in Nashville, during a vintage and new drum show. We talked for a few hours that day. I had previously met him in 1976 0r 1977 when the Turnstiles album was just out. I got to go to the taped show at Connecticut college they did with Billy. In the seventies Liberty and the others were pretty stuck up when they visited the music store I worked at, but when I recently met him he was super nice and great fun. He repeatedly talked about how lucky he was to get hooked up with Billy Joel and that there were many drummers out there who were not as lucky as he was. He's a hard hitter. I think during the clinic he mentioned Sabian will not give him any light weight cymbals for touring anymore, just heavy ones!

Hey everyone
Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. My name is Matt, I live in Michigan. I have been playing for about a year! I am in a small unknown band called the Bungalow Junkies. We play primarily rock type music, but have been known to "rub some funk on it" We practice together at least once a week usually!! Whatever happens, happens..it is pretty laid back!! I have two mentors, Larry and Rich, they are both in the band as well. Hence I recieve my lessons for free, and get to have a great time doing it!! I love The drums! I am sure I will post all over the place, so I hope I don't annoy anyone. I ask alot of questions!!This is me about a year ago!! I Shall post a recent pic as soon as I get my hands on one!

I'm going tohave my mom check on those shirts for me on Ebay...I'm sure if she finds one it will be 10 times to big...that's the trouble I have...I can't find any cool drum shirts in my size....cool story you have of your meetings with Liberty....I'll be happy when I'm grown up so I can get around and hopefully meet some more drummers.

Here we go. I'm from Munich, Germany and 24 yrs old. I can't really sum up the years of playing cause I used to start with drum school when I was 8 till I was 12. but I was a damn lazy ass and didn't learn very much and played once with the cello group of my sister "entertainer" on a concert haha. I had lessons again when I was 18 for a year...still no motivation, still no band. Now I play again since march 2004 with my band called jaws (oldschool hardcore in the vein of bane, judge, cro-mags) and now highly motivated I practice almost every day rudimentals at home and play occasionally the kit in our practice space.

My name is John, I have been playing the drums for a little under a year now and I am 15 years old. My band, The Jam (Kind of going for The Cream type-name) plays classic rock from the 60's and 70's era, but most of all we play blues.. Loooots of blues. I have a PDP set, with 2 Zildjian crashes and a ride. I'm saving up for a cowbell, and some other cymbals.
I don't have any pics of me on my set, so here is one of me in my famous aviators(I have a whole collection of them, haha :-) ).

Welcome to the forum. Just a small word of advice: your band might want to consider a name change. The Jam was the name of a very famous punk/rock band from the UK in the late 70's. (Check out 'Going Underground' great song) great band, incidentally the drummer played Roger's drums before they were bad.
Either way, cool to hear you're into the classic rock. Keep rocking.

Yeah, same here...stage left. It was nice to see Neil in various stages of concentration and grimace. And Geddy on his keyboard. It was an electrifying show. Those DW's kicked!

So, this is a typical day for me, then... Pictures taken last friday (except for the one of me and my daughter)..
This is me, gigging, at the local church, on a "youth service".
On fridays I want to try to rehearse a bit before gigging. This is at the same local church. Now, since I played, some of the children of the members of the church showed up to see what was making all those fun sounds...
Angelina - the daughter of one of the ministers, joined in. Quite hard to keep a beat when there's a one-year-old beating your snare every 2 seconds... But fun to see young drummers engage in the art...
Anyways... After a while some of the other kids showed up aswell. To make them do something useful with their lives instead of just running around pulling plugs on my practice set, I tried to get them to play some hand drums. It went fairly well aslong as they could borrow my sticks to play with, aswell...
And finally: How I and my daugter look like, when we are going to band practice.

Every time I ask a question about something the response is "get lessons" only a fool would disreguard advise of this nature. Right now I am patiently waiting the birth of my daughter, once I can get to it I will be taking lessons.

very nice :D my brother and I actually used old drum heads for a very long time to frisbee. they are a bit hard to throw cause you have to spin 'em very hard to get 'em stable but when you do it correctly they fly very smooth.

I was once at a show with a dutch drummer and when he finished he threw his sticks in the audience. one hit the head of a girl standing with her back to the stage and all I could think is that's what you get when you ain't paying attention to a good drummer.

Hey Guys (and the only chick drummer) =D
Where better to introduce myself. Im 15, 6 foot tall and from cambridgeshire, UK.
Self taught as of maybe coming up on a year now, but really happy with my progress thus far, ive come a long way, and am jst getting to the point where i cant really work out much more alone, as i wanna progress onto advanced stuff, so im looking for a tutor.
My kits not worth mentioning and my steels are probably old enough to be made by Mr. Zildjian's ancestors, but its all tuned acceptably and my snare is sounding sexy at the moment.
Some visuals of myself....

Thats my fav, me when i was playing a band my dad knows, and so i made friends and they asked me to play one year when i was stayin with dad in spain where he lives. My older half sisters boyfriend took it and hes a proffesional fashion photographer, but he make it look pretty awesome...

Hi everyone!
I'm new here, my name is Lucas and I live in Utrecht, Holland. I'm 17 years old and I've been playing drums for about 8 years now. In the past I've been playing all kinds of music, from grindcore and death metal to pop/rock and even a little classical stuff, but nowadays it's mostly (bigband) jazz, latin and a bit of ska (because playing live with a skaband is an awful lot of fun). This is me playing with my skaband (The Shenanigans, check us out at www.shenanigans.nl)

Usually I have fairly curly hair, tends to stick out of the sides. My wearing of the beret in the first picture has been banned. I don't understand the straight hair thing but you know, if she likes it she can do what she want to me. I'm quite tolerant and not usually all that self concious (hence the beret, I actually have a silly hat for every season).
Oh well. It's all good fun.
