Here's my kit: a 70's import blue sparkle with Paiste PST 5 cymbals. It came with a 20x14 kick, 8x12 mounted tom, a 14x14 floor tom, and a Pearl snare. The snare in the pictures is a white marine pearl Olympic Phillipine Mahogany 51/2 x 14 number from eBay. I added the 9x13 and a 16x16 floor toms also off of eBay.

After many years I got this kit out of storeage and was amazed to learn it still has a great sound. Of course I had to replace the heads, but this beats NOT having one! It's good to practice on. And as you can see, my 10-year old daughter loves to bang around on them, and the 36 x 16 Djembe. Lol !

She is an amazing double bass player in my opinion. Great sense of rhythm, melody and a nice touch!

I did, I eventually sold it because the sizes got to me. The kick had limitations and would choke if really laid into. Ludwig makes really great drums though...I loved the tone.

This was somewhere around South Dakota possibly.. our band had a show to play in Minnesota (we're from California) and as I was driving, I decided to wake up our photographer and let him see the sunrise. He decided to wake up everyone else, tell them to unload acoustic equipment, and play in this open field off the highway. It was like, 35 degrees outside but totally beautiful and awesome. There's video of this somewhere.. we did this sort of thing all along the way, there and back.

Unfortunately not, that was just by luck that someone happened to be taking photos at a concert I was playing in. That wasn't my set, that was a lovely Premier Artist Birch with an 18" bass drum that I was particularly fond of.

My name is Michael Whitlow and I'm from Atlanta Georgia. I was in the same band, 285, for 16 years. We were the house band at Six Flags over Georgia in 1982 and 1984. After that we were "rock and roll prostitutes" for 13 years playing clubs while traveling around the United States (mainly the Southeast). One of our best gigs was Club LaVela in Panama City Beach (one of the homes to spring break). Great stories and even better times.

I don't miss the road too much, but I sure do miss playing every night. I'm currently a third year medical student, so I just play drums as a hobby now. At least I actually get to practice versus trying new licks in front of a few hundred people every night. I have learned more in the last year than I would have in a few years on the road (especially with Drummerwold).

If Drummerworld was around when I was in high school, I might have never graduated.

Yamaha drummer started it, just putting it in his signature the identify his Faith in Jesus. I thought it was cool and did the same thing and a few others followed suit. So it kinda sparked the athiest drummers army, tages, and PEW Something tags..lol. So Just add it to your signature is all you do.

I may have posted a pic of my kit elsewhere, but not here! So here's quick little ditty.

Hello:
My name is Damian Arletto. I started playing drums in the 7th grade when I was 12 years old. I play throughout Jr. High school and High School in wind ensemble, orchestra, jazz and marching band. I am a self taught drummer with no formal training. I learn to play by listening to Kiss albums as a young teenager and did not even have my own kit until I was 20. Then I discovered METAL. Since that time I have played many shows and tours with some well known artists. Now married with children I do mostly studio work with an occasional gig now and then. I still love to play and spend about 6 hours a week on my kit. I look forward to being an active member here and appreciate the chance to offer my knowledge as a drummer to anyone who may want it.

I don't buy zildjian sticks anymore. Vic Firth and pro mark last quite a while, but I think Zildjians must have a balsa wood core or something.

Well start it this off, I'm Jarod, as my username obviously puts and i'm 18 since this february i've been playing for exactly five years since my birthday this year and am self-taught with some tips on things from drummers in my neighborhood. My town is rather boring just above marietta GA but the music scene is slowing picking up around here.
I've been jamming with my brother and twin since i bought my set and my twin and I have been openly jamming with anyone and everyone that wants to stop by our house to kick a few tunes in the basement. but here it is, the pictures.

I actually wanted to take that particular picture, so hopefully I don't look that bad.

It's too bad about my huge upper eyelids, though. I always feel like they give me somewhat of a 'duuuuhhhh' look. Whenever I don't smile, anyway. My mouth frowns by default.

Pearl maple Sessions. We've had it for years, we only use it for pep band since it gets so much use and goes on the road. If it gets nicked, its not a big loss.

Couple of pictures behind the kit, the first one is of me with an old band, Nailing Betty. Probably the single greatest picture of me ever taken.

The second one is more recent, (not my kit) at a benefit concert for the late Buster Marbury (great drummer from Detroit).

I don't have very many pictures, (probably because I'm not the best looking guy in the world, but I digress...). :P

Hi! I'm new and since I can find hardly find any ladies on here I thought I'd step up to the plate. I just started drumming and am playing on a cheapy starter set. The cymbals are obnoxious but I am taking up a collection to get some Sabian or Paiste's if anyone's interested in contributing! (hee hee) I truly LOVE this instrument! BTW, I threw in that pic of my broken wrist (I took a fall while riding back in July) because for some in sane reason shortly after that I decided to pursue my long time desire to pick up the drums even though I just had a metal plate and 6 screws inserted into my wrist! Go figure! Anyway, I've decidid that my new motto is "Drumming: Cheaper that therapy and Way More Funner!" Rock On!

If you look around on DW, there are a bunch of ladies involved in the forum. I have learned a bunch from the female drumming perspective.

I hope your wrist heals nicely for you. I couldn't help but notice your right grip in one of your photos. I don't think that grip will help your wrist heal. Try relaxing...are you taking lessons?

I hope your drumming journey yields nice results for you and I'm sure you will have "Way More FUN!
